An Adaptive embedded system for Easing patients care in Rural India Abstract

In India as per the survey conducted by Indian Medical Society (IMS) in the year 2009, it has been revealed that 75% of qualified consulting doctors practice in urban centers and 23% in semi urban areas and only 2% at rural areas whereas majority of the patients come from rural areas. The non availability of proper medical facilities at right time is a huge problem for people at rural places. Providing a cost effective solution for this problem by utilizing the available resources to give good medical facilities to not only to urban but also to rural areas definitely reduces the gap present. The challenges that have to be faced to achieve this change are improve patient safety, improve the quality and efficiency of patient care, and reduce healthcare delivery costs at rural areas. The method that can be applied successfully to overcome all these challenges is Telemedicine. This paper introduces the innovative concept of developing an efficient Electronic Health Record (EHR) used to implement Telemedicine by utilizing the advances made in both Information technology and Communication systems. This application acts as a bridge between skilled doctors and the rural people.

Introduction:
Improvement of rural health care access has been a guiding principle of federal and state policy regarding physician assistants .In a country like India it is not a possible act to maintain hospitals in all the rural regions , but healthcare is a primary aspect of any government. Taking this into consideration we are proposing a project which does a basic counseling with the patients and automatically dispenses the medicine for small primary diseases with consultation from doctor via network topological connections.

Working:
Hence the Rural Health Service scheme is still under the pathetic conditions like Hospitals with unattended Doctors still exist.

A small Atm like setup is installed in all the rural villages with an authorized person who has the basic knowledge of putting an injection. The person who has medical problem is checked for temperature and heartbeat and automatically made a voice counseling for example a series of questions is asked in Tamil for which he has to answer via a key press. The questionnaire is asked for a series of rounds and the computer automatically diagnoses an output and sends a data about the query to a authorized person namely a doctor sitting at the server side. the doctor on seeing the patient datas diagnoses the disease and sends a list of medicines if the disease is curable without any active consultation via a doctor or asks the patients to consult the hospital. On getting a valid response the machine either dispenses medicines automatically or informs the patient to visit the hospital.
