One of the top young jazz bands in South Florida, Jazz in Six brings a sophisticated sound to restaurants, parties,

corporate evenings, and fundraisers. They turn on and turn out crowds at festivals, street fairs, and at select clubs and performance halls. GNUStar also works with the groups clients to generate promotional materials, and Internet and ground-based marketing tools that can make a public event a hit, tune up a company holiday party, and add a little cool to a festival, fair or fundraiser. Holden Ross - (Tenor Saxophone/Band Leader) A member of Jazz in 5 in 2011-2012, Holden was tapped as the band leader for Jazz in Six for 2012-2013. A two-time member of the elite 17 member Florida AllState Jazz Band in 2012-2013, Ross, a senior at the A.W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts, has been a member of the Palm Beach County All-District Jazz Band since 2009. He has been the first chair alto at the Interlochen Center for the Arts Summer Jazz Band and in the top combos of the Juilliard Summer Jazz Workshops and was just selected to the national UCF High School All-Star Jazztet. He has studied with top local pros Michael Forte and Allan Finn on saxophone and clarinet, with Karen Dixon on flute, and and in the summer with saxophonist Ron Blake (SNL Band/Christian McBride Big Band) at the Juilliard Jazz Workshops. He currently studies with saxophonist Gary Keller.

Ben Batalla (Piano) - A member of Jazz in 5 in 2010-2011, Ben has a passion for jazz piano. His swinging piano leads and solos were a key factor Ben Batalla in the the A.W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts elite Jazz Ensemble I, taking first place in the Jazz and Swing Preservation Societys Battle of the Bands in 2011 and 2012. Ben is first and foremost a gifted classical pianist. He has performed at the Palm Beach Atlantic International Piano Festival under the instruction of Nelson Delle-Vigne Fabbri both in 2011 and 2012; in a master class with Haochen Zhang, a winner of the Van Cliburn International Piano Festival; and, most recently, with Jonathan Feldman, the Dean of Collaborative Piano at Juilliard and the pianist for the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. Batalla, a senior at Dreyfoos, began studying piano at the age of seven with Mr. Enrique Castro. He has studied for the past five years with the talented composer and jazz educator Mr. Pedro Hernandez. Ben enjoys his role as the pianist for the St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church, where he serves every week. He also enjoys composing and arranging his own piano works, especially his eight-hand arrangement of the Carol of the Bells performed at the sold-out 2011 Annual Prism Concert. Vincent Moore - (Bass) - A member of Jazz in 5 in 2011-2012, Vincent received straight superior ratings with Jazz in 5 for both high school District and All-State Jazz combos. He was a member of the A.W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts elite Jazz Ensemble 1 that took first place in the Jazz and Swing Preservation Societys Battle of the Bands in 2011 and 2012. He has been playing the upright and electric bass for the last five years.

Holden Ross

Adesh Balraj - (Trumpet) Adesh joins Jazz in Six for the 2012-2013 combo. A junior at the A.W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts, Adesh was part of the elite Jazz Ensemble 1 that took first place in the Jazz and Swing Preservation Societys Battle of the Bands in 2011 and 2012. He was also featured in the top combo of the Juilliard Summer Workshops in West Palm Beach last Adesh Balraj summer, working under professor Ron Blake. Adesh finds inspiration in the music of Chet Baker and Miles Davis, but likes modern players as well, like Roy Hargrove and Ron Blake, etc. Adesh also has a passion for Rock, and Blues, and plays Blues guitar and trumpet for another local band.

Tyson Jackson - (Drums) - Tyson is a rising phenom from a family of phenomenal drummers. Tyson was a national semi-finalist in a drumming competition sponsored by cymbalmaker Zildjian when he was just 13 years old, going head-to-head with drummers almost twice his age. He received a Maestro award at the Heritage Festival in 2010. He has been named to the Palm All-District Jazz Band in both middle and high school. He has Tyson Jackson studied under the legendary drummer and head of the Juilliard Jazz department, Carl Allen, professor and saxophonist Ron Blake and with Juilliard graduate student Luca Santaniello at Julliards Jazz Workshops here and in Colorado, where he received a Juilliard Jazz Residency Workshop Scholarship. Even though he is a sophomore at the A.W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts in West Palm Beach, he is already seen as a rising star in Jazz by college jazz professors and professionals nationally. This is his second year in the combo, after a stellar freshman year in Jazz in 5.

Alex Lacy - (Alto Saxophone) - One of the most naturally gifted young musicians in Florida, Alex plays both alto sax and guitar with flare. This is Alexs debut year in Jazz in Six. Lacy, a junior at the A.W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts, was recently selected to the Palm Beach County AllDistrict Jazz band as one of the top alto saxophonists in the county.

He also plays blues and rock guitar, and has been featured at local club showcases like B.B. Kings in West Palm Beach.

Vincent Moore

Vincent has studied jazz bass for the last two summers at the Juilliard Jazz Workshops in West Palm Beach. A sophomore, Vincent is a very eclectic musician who plays all styles of music, proof of which is that his influences are: Jaco Pastorius, Paul Chambers, Frank Sinatra and the Doors.
