In 1961, Dunottar changed from private ownership to being owned by a charitable trust.

In 1933, Dunottar moved to the High Trees Estate mansion, which had been built by Walter Blanford Waterlow, fourth mayor of Reigate, in 1867. Heading down to the bottom pitch, the students follow a woodland path.

The school was originally established by the Elliot-Pyles in Brownlow Road, with three pupils. It is easy to see why they moved to this Victorian mansion!
