NEWSLETTER OF VENTANA VISTA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Another Honor for VVE! You may recall the announcement we shared with you in August that Ventana Vista had earned a letter grade of A from the Arizona Department of Education, , as well as a prestigious Title I High Performing Reward. We recently learned2010 that only 114 schools in the state of Arizona received this distinction! In addition Ventana Vista was recently recognized as a 2012 National Center for Educational Achievement (NCEA) Higher Performing School! XZXC0000 Recognition as an NCEA Higher Performing School indicates a schools deep commitment to raising student achievement and putting more students on the path to college and career readinessregardless of socio-economic barriers or 09 any other obstacles that might otherwise impede success. We are proud to be a school that stands out as shining example of what can be achieved when staff, students and parents work together toward a unified goal of better educating APRIL 24, 2009 students and preparing them for life after high school. We are very fortunate to be part of an exceptional preK-12 school system. Preparing students well for life beyond our school system, college and career , 2008 readiness, is what we strive for in CFSD. Did you know??? In the spring of 2012, Catalina Foothills High School seniors scored higher than seniors at 92 similar high schools across the USA on the College and Work Readiness Assessment (CWRA). CFHS seniors also scored higher than college freshmen taking the Collegiate Learning Assessment (CLA), a similar exam! Did you know??? Students from the CFHS Class of 2012 were offered $24,099,632 in scholarship funds to continue their education! Kim Boling Principal kboling@cfsd16.org 520-209-8000

Open Enrollment for School Year 2013-2014

Pursuant to A.R.S. 15-816 Catalina Foothills School District will begin its open enrollment procedures for the 2013-2014 school year effective December 1, 2012. The law requires every Arizona school district to follow a prescribed procedure and timetable for admitting out-ofdistrict transfer students and resident transfer students (those who live in the District but are attending a school outside the attendance area of their residence). All students who currently attend CFSD schools and reside in other districts, and all CFSD resident students who are attending a different school than they would based on their residence, are impacted by this law. We require that all open enrollment students apply for admission each year. Therefore, if your child is a resident transfer (open enrollment) student and you want him/her to continue in that capacity, or if your child resides outside of the district and you want him/her to continue to attend a CFSD school next year, please complete an application form between

December 1, 2012, and February 28, 2013. applications and information regarding the application process are on the district web site, www.cfsd16.org (as of December 1, 2012), or
