Create a song, rap, or poem that teaches how to convert numbers in standard form to scientific notation and from scientific notation to standard form. Provide an example for each exponent rule that is different from your graphic organizer. Create a graphic organizer that provides examples of numbers being sorted into rational and irrational numbers. Complete a worksheet the covers one of the following topics: Converting scientific notation, multiplying and diving in scientific notation, Exponent rules, and rational vs irrational numbers. (5 points for each worksheet)

Entre (Select at least Two) 15 points each


Complete a discussion comparing and contrasting rational and irrational numbers. Create a 10 question quiz that consists of 5 questions that convert numbers from standard form to scientific notation and from scientific notation to standard form, and 5 questions that involves multiplying and dividing numbers expressed in scientific notation. Create a set of flashcards or a game in which you have to match the Exponent rule with the correct example.

Side Dishes (Select at least One) 10 points each


Describe how scientific notation is used in the real world. Write a letter to an absent friend that explains one of the following topics: Converting scientific notation, Multiplying and Dividing scientific notation, Exponent Rules, Rational vs Irrational numbers (10 points for each topic) Create a comic strip that involves one of the following topics: Converting scientific notation, Multiplying and Dividing scientific notation, Exponent Rules, Rational vs Irrational numbers (10 points for each topic)

November 16, 2012 Dear Parents, The purpose of this project is to review the concepts from Unit 2. Students did not do well with this Unit and we want to make sure that the students are able to review and receive credit for mastery. This project is optional. Students completed test corrections and in grading them I found that there is still some confusion. This project will allow students to review these concepts and clear up any misunderstandings. If students successfully complete this project, they will be able to replace their Unit 2 test grade. This project will be due Wednesday, November 27, 2012 at the beginning of class.
