Reading Data from the TL-30

Reading and Exporting data from a TL-30


Press and hold the [Check] button on the 3M TL-30. If no LEDs go on: The 3M TL-30 is not running OR has no data OR is not working. If the red LED is on: The 3M TL-30 IS running and one or more data points exceed the temperature limits. If the green LED is on: The 3M TL-30 IS running and all data points are within the temperature limits. To view the data on the TL-30: 1. Start the 3M Temperature Logger software. 2. Connect the TL-30 to your computer using a USB to mini-USB cable. Keep the TL-30 connected to the computer until you have completed the programming of the TL-30. 3. Press the Wake up button on the TL-30 to enable it to communicate with the software. NOTE: The connection on the TL-30 will go into a sleep mode if you do not program it or read the data in 10 minutes. If this happens and you try to read data, the software will prompt you to press the Wake up button. 4. On the main screen, click the Read data from Logger button. 5. Once the data has been read, you will see a graph of all the data. You can zoom in on any part of the graph by dragging the cursor over an area to zoom in on that part of the graph. To see the entire graph click the Undo Zoom button above the graph. 6. You can also see the data in a spreadsheet form by clicking the Data Table tab. Every temperature reading stored on the TL-30 will be displayed with the date and time as well as the recorded temperature in both scales. If that temperature is outside the upper or lower limit programmed on the TL-30 then it will appear in a different color and an asterisk will appear in the corresponding column of Alarm Hi or Alarm Low. 7. To see a summary of the data recorded on the TL-30 click the Summary tab. 8. To export the data from the TL-30, click on the Report tab. NOTE: You must have Microsoft Excel installed on this computer to save the data as an Excel file. If you choose Standard Report and click the Export button, a folder will be created on the computer with files for the graph and the data. From this folder you can load the files into other programs to view.

Saving data from the TL-30


If you want to save the data from the TL-30 to a folder on your computer you can do this by going to File Save Data Table. The file is saved in a special format (EXL) that you can load into the 3M Temperature Logger Software. Enter a name and location for the data file and click SAVE. To load a data table file into the 3M software, go to File Load Data Table, select the EXL file and click Open. You will see the graph, table data and summary information.

Clearing the data and settings from the TL-30


If you want to clear the data and settings so that the TL-30 will no longer record temperatures, you can do this by going to File Clear 3M Logger. You will see a screen that asks if you want to erase all data and settings. Click OK to clear the TL-30 or Cancel to keep the data and settings.
