Keong Emas Standard Competence: Memahami makna dalam esai pendek sederhana berbentuk rec ount, descriptive and narrative untuk berinteraksi dengan lingkungan sekitar. Basic Competences: Merespon makna dan langkah retorika dalam essai pendek s ederhana secara akurat, lancar, dan berterima yang berkaitan dengan lingkungan s ekitar dalam teks berbentuk recount, descriptive, dan narrative. Indicator: Cognitive: The students are able to list noun, verb, and ad jective on the text. Affective: The students are able to answer the questions ba sed on the text. Psychomotor: The students are able to make a sentence by using the noun, verb, and adjective. Teaching Objective: At the end of the class, the students are expect ed to be able to: Cognitive: List noun, verb, and adjective on the text. Affective: Answer the questions based on the text. Psychomotor: Make a sentence by using noun, verb, and adjective. Teaching Material: Folktales Story Teaching Method: Reading Method Teaching Steps: A. Pre activities: The teacher greets the students. The teacher manages the class. The teacher checks attendance list. The teacher divides the students into several groups. The teacher shares the warming up questions relate to the topic. Do you know about Keong Emas? How does the story? The teacher tells the teaching objectives. B. While activities: The students listen to the teacher s explanation. The teacher explains about noun, verb, and adjective followed by giving some examples in sentences. Noun is a word that is used to name a person, place, thing, quality, or an activity. For example: A person Eka is my friend. Yuda has a new car. A place The hotel is very big. I live with my family in Palu A thing This is my doll. I have a rabbit and a cat in my house. A quality The parents ask the children to tell the truth. The happiness of our family is complete. An activity My uncle will have a flight from Palu to Surabaya. We will do an election to choose a new chairman. Verb is a word (or a category of speech) which says something about what a person or thing does, did, or has done. For example:

Verb in the simple present tense I always get up at 6 o clock in the morning. She always gets up at 5 o clock. Verb in the simple past tense I studied English last night. She watched movie yesterday. Verb in active and passive sentences. The student do the exercise (active) The exercise is done by the student (passive) Adjective is a word used to describe a noun or pronoun. For example: Didi has a new book. I have a green pen. Dara is a smart student. Many students come into in the classroom. The students read the text. Keong Emas (The Golden Snail) Prince Raden Putra and Dewi Limaran were husband and wife. They lived in a palac e. Prince Raden Putra's father was the king of the kingdom. One day, Dewi Limara n was walking around in the palace garden. Suddenly she saw a snail. It was ugly and disgusting. "Yuck!" said Dewi Limaran and then she threw it away into a riv er. She did not know that the snail was actually an old and powerful witch. She could changed herself into anything. The witch was angry to Dewi Limaran. The wi tch put a spell on her and changed her into a golden snail. The witch then threw it away into the river. The golden snail was drifting away in the river and got caught into a net. An ol d woman was fishing and used her net to catch some fish. She was surprised to se e a golden snail in her net. She took it and brought it home. When the old woman woke up in the morning, she was surprised that the house was in the good condit ion. The floor was clean. And she also had food on the table. She was thinking v ery hard. "Who did this to me? The person was very kind." It happened again and again every morning. The old woman was very curious. One night she decided to st ay up late. She was peeping from her room to know who cooked for her. Then, she could not believe what she saw. The golden snail she caught in the river turned into a beautiful woman. The old woman approached her. "Who are you, young girl?" "I am Dewi Limaran, Ma'am. A witch cursed me. I can c hange back as a human only at night," explained Dewi Limaran. "The spell could b e broken if I hear the melody from the holy gamelan," continued Dewi Limaran. Th e old woman then rushed to the palace. She talked to Prince Raden Putra about he r wife. Prince Raden Putra was so happy. He had been looking for his wife everywhere. He then prayed and meditated. He asked the gods to give him the holy gamelan. He w anted to break the witch's spell. After several days praying and meditating, fin ally gods granted his wish. He immediately brought the holy gamelan to the old w oman's house. He played it beautifully. And then amazingly the golden snail turn ed into the beautiful Dewi Limaran. The couple was so happy that they could be together again. They also thanked the old woman for her kindness. Post activities: The teacher concludes the materials by asking some oral questions to the students. The teacher motivates the students to study hard and always practice at home. It was very hot day. A crocodile was lying on the ground. He wanted to go to the river and enjoyed the water. However, he was too weak to go there. He was waiti ng for an animal to help him. His wish came true. A buffalo was passing by. He a sked the buffalo to helped him. "I want to go to the river. But I am too weak, may I jump on your back and take me to the river?" asked the crocodile. "Certainly, Mr Crocodile. I'm glad to hel p you," said the Buffalo. Soon the crocodile was on top of the buffalo's back. A nd when they arrived at the river side, the buffalo asked the crocodile to get o ff. "Not now, there is not much water here. Please go farther," said the crocodi le. The buffalo continued walking. They were almost at the middle of the river. The water was on the neck of the buffalo. The crocodile get off from the buffalo's b ack. Instead of saying thank you, the crocodile bit the buffalo's leg. "Hey what are you doing?" asked the buffalo. "I'm so hungry. You have to be my lunch!" sa id the crocodile. "But it is not fair! I already helped you!" "I don't care!" sa id the crocodile. A mouse deer saw their argument. He was standing at the river side. He wanted to know what happened. "Hey, what are you arguing about?" asked the mouse deer. "I already helped Mr. Crocodile, but now he wants to eat me." The mouse deer knew that the crocodile was a mean animal. He wanted to help the buffalo. "What? I ca nnot hear you. Both of you are too far from me. Come closer to the ground.

Slowly, the buffalo moved his body. The crocodile was still biting his leg. And when they were on the ground, the mouse deer whispered to the buffalo's ear. "Ki ck the crocodile now and run. The crocodile cannot move fast to the ground." The buffalo immediately kicked the crocodile with his other leg. The crocodile was in pain. He opened his mouth. The buffalo was free. Soon the buffalo and the mou se deer ran fast to save their lives. "Wait for my revenge mouse deer. I will eat you alive!" the crocodile was angry. Several days later, the crocodile met the mouse deer. "Aha! I will eat you now! " "No, wait! Do you know what I'm doing here?" asked the mouse deer. He continue d, "Do you see that big and shining rope over there? Well, it's not a rope. It's a magic belt. The god of the jungle asked me to guard it." "Really? What kind of magic does this belt have?" asked the crocodile. "Anyone w ho wears the belt will have great power," explained the mouse deer. The crocodil e wanted to have great power. However, he did not know that the belt was actuall y a big snake. And the snake was sleeping. The crocodile asked the mouse deer to go away. And when the mouse deer left. The crocodile lifted the belt and put it around his body. The snake was angry! He squeezed the crocodile! The crocodile was in great pain. He asked for help but no one helped him. ANSWER KEY Exercise 1: Verbs: lived, walking, saw, threw, changed, took, brought, decided, rushed, and prayed. Nouns: husband, wife, palace, river, snail, net, house, floor, woman, a nd table. adjectives: ugly, surprised, hard, curious, late, believe, beautiful, happy, kind, and clean. Exercise 2: She saw the snail. Because she threw the snail to the river. Because her house was in the good condition. The floor was clean. And sh e also had food on the table. She decided to stay up late. To broke the spell. The couple was so happy that they could be together again. They also tha nked the old woman for her kindness. He is a mean animal. 4) Because he wanted the buffalo to be his lunch. 5) The magic belt is a big snake. 6) The snake squeezed the crocodile and slowly he died. Based on the students answer.
