TO ALLCADETS CAPCSUlJ]JlJ.er Encampment }furch Air Force Base, California

September,

1956

You attending the 1956 Encampment have enjoyed the complete understanding and cooperation of the strategic Air Conunand "of' the Uni.t.ed states Air Force. As we look back through the years and compar-e this Enc&~ment to those past, this is the finest ever attended by Civil Air iPatrol cadets from the Southern Area, California Wing. . Ambition promotes training which leads to achievement; therefore, the amount of individual effort expended results in success or failure. From this point on we can build through continuous effort a strong future for the Civil Air Patrol program, or we can remain on a plateau, glancing neither forward nor backward, but becoming satisfied only with ourselves rather than with results. Let us then take home the leadership, the initiative, ani the understanding developed here, and apply it to the job to be accomplished - - the promotion of an intensive program of Aviation Education.

AUGUST, DEAR M0l1,

1956 -

.As you knov all the 250 Oiv:U Air Patrol cadets going to summerencampment left by USAF airlift - a 0-54 and VC-97brought us in from Santa Barbara, Burbank, Long Beach, and San Diego. I guess the senior personnel who reached the enc~pment a few days earlier had their problems in setting up the headquarters and arranging the million and one details, but by the time we got to March Air Force Base at Riverside, things were pretty well under- control, and it really wasnIt too bad waiting outside the building in the hot, broiling sun waiting to be processed and wanting to get the showon the road. It just seemeg like hours
