THE SITUATION TODAY

52% of people living with HIV in the U.S. are men who have sex with men (MSM). In 2009, MSM were an est. 2% of the population but accounted for 64% of all new HIV infections.

RECENT ADVANCES Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) involves giving anti-retrovirals to HIV- individuals to prevent them from acquiring HIV. The iPrEx study showed PrEP using the Truvada pill reduced transmission of HIV in MSM and trans women.
