A Crossroads Location Arabia peninsula is in The crossroads location is Southwest of Asia. geographers call Arabia a crossroads location. Merchants carried their trading goods or gold along the crossroads to deliver their trades to other people. Trading in Arabia persuaded people to come to Arabia. Physical Features It is always hot and dry there, and there are always forming sand dunes that can reach the height up to 800 ft. and can go on for miles. It is very hard to find water; water mostly exists in oasis a wet planted area. Desert Climate The climate is mostly scorching hot and dry. It could reach up to the temperature of 100 degrees daily. Its good to always keep water with you.

TWO WAYS OF LIFE Some people lived a __nomadic life______________________, _moving_____________ from _place______ to _place______. Others lived a ___sedentary_____________, or _____settled______________, life in ________towns___________. Nomads Nomads lived in tents and raised many animals such as goats, sheeps, cows, and camels. They got their milk from the cows and their cheese from goats. They used animal skins to build the tents. The tribe like a group of related people offered protection from the dangers of the desert Townspeople Townspeople settled in oasis so they could farm, they built their towns along the trading routes. People who lived in town were merchants, and craftspeople they worked together in the caravan trade- a group of traders that travel together.

Trade Centers (p. 56-58!) Soon the towns became centers of trade, for both Nomads and townspeople.a lot of towns had souk a market or bazzar. The nomads traded animal skins, and meat and desert herbs also cooking supplies and clothing. The merchants sold their gold and spices from the caravans
