Display Mode This Numeric point sets the display mode of the module. The table below explains the available modes. More detailed descriptions follow the table.
Value 0 Mode Menu Description This mode is for displaying static messages such as system status or for presenting menu-type selections for a user. No editing via the keypad is supported, however, any key presses detected are returned to the controller via the ACCLCDKeyStroke system variable.
Numeric Data
This mode is designed to display prompt information on the first two lines and numeric data that may be edited on the third. The data may be edited using the numeric keys. The cursor will automatically advance after entering each digit. The first number of the third line is sent to the Controller in the ACCLCDAnswerStr system variable after pressing the ENTER button.
String Data
This mode is designed to display prompt information on the first two lines and string data that may be edited on the third. All 16 characters of the string may be edited using the keypad. The cursor will automatically advance after entering each character. The edited string is sent to the Controller in the ACCLCDAnswerStr variable after pressing the ENTER button.
DateTime Data
This mode is designed to display prompt information on the first two lines and date/time data that may be edited on the third. Only numbers and the am/pm indicator may be changed: all delimiters (: or / or .) are skipped. The cursor will automatically advance after entering each digit. The edited string is sent to the Controller in the ACCLCDAnswerStr system variable after pressing the ENTER button. The numbers can only be changed to valid values (1 to 12 for month, etc.) The valid selections wrap from highest valid value to lowest valid value and vice versa.
Password
This mode allows for a user to enter a password. Only numeric entries are allowed. The password entered is returned in the ACCLCDAnswerStr.

Detailed Mode Descriptions Menu mode This mode allows you to display your information on all four lines of text without restriction. There is no automatic editing capability built-into this mode. The text displayed on lines 1 4 of the LCD display is determined by the strings ACCLCDDispLine 1 ACCLCDDispLine 4, respectively. All key entries on the keypad will be sent to the Controller in the ACCLCDKeyStroke numeric.
Numeric Data mode This mode is designed to display two lines of prompt information and a third line containing a numerical value that can be edited right from the keypad. This numeric data might be a set point, point value or other data. Editing functions such as automatic cursor positioning and key acceptance is performed locally by the xPDISPLAY. In this mode, the text on lines 1, 2 and 4 of the LCD display is determined by the strings ACCLCDDispLine1, ACCLCDDispLine2 and ACCLCDDispLine4. Line 3 of the display contains the string containing any combination of letters and numbers set by ACCLCDDispLine3. The entire line is editable and can contain numeric values, a decimal point, and plus or minus sign. The cursor automatically advances after entering each digit. The time delay between pressing the key associated with the number and the cursor advance is determined by the setting called Auto Accept found on the Setup menu page. The default time delay is 0.8 seconds. Only the numbers contained on line 3 are sent to the controller when Enter is pressed. Example: If line 3 contains TEMP= 73 F, only the 73 is returned. Invalid entries would contain no numbers or numbers greater than nine digits in length. Only the up arrow key, down arrow key and three soft keys are sent to the Controller in the ACCLCDKeyStroke numeric. All other keys are used locally by the display unit for data entry and editing. The left and right arrows can be used to position the cursor. The * key can be pressed for a space character. The # key will delete with contraction.

String Data mode This mode is designed to display two lines of prompt information and a third line containing a string that can be edited right from the keypad. Editing functions such as automatic cursor positioning and key acceptance is performed locally by the xPDISPLAY. In this mode, the text on lines 1, 2 and 4 of the LCD display is determined by the strings ACCLCDDispLine1, ACCLCDDispLine2, and ACCLCDDispLine4. Line 3 of the display contains the string set by ACCLCDDispLine 3. All 16 characters of line 3 are editable and can contain any of the xPDISPLAY alpha-numeric key entries. If no activity is detected for a brief interval, the xPDISPLAY will Auto-Accept the key entry and automatically advance the cursor. The default time for Auto-Accept is 0.8 seconds, however, this time can be adjusted from 0.8 seconds to 5.0 seconds by setting the Auto Accept value through the SETUP mode. If a different key is pressed prior to the AutoAccept time expiration, the xPDISPLAY automatically shifts the cursor to the next position. Line 4 can be used to define the soft key functions. Entering Text Successive presses on the alpha-numeric keys cycle between the numeric value, the upper-case alpha and the lower case alpha values. For example: To enter the letter: A w Press this button (number of times) 2 (one time) 9 (five times) ABCabc2 WXYZwxyz9
The 1 + - key toggles among 1, +, - and all punctuation marks shown in the table on page 17 that are not letters or digits. The * key is used to enter a space character. The left and right arrow keys move the cursor accordingly. Only the UP ARROW, DOWN ARROW and three soft key entries are sent to the Controller in the ACCLCDKeyStroke numeric. All other keys are used locally by the xPDISPLAY for data entry and editing. DateTime Data mode This mode is designed to display two lines of prompt information and a third line containing date/time information that can be edited right from the keypad. Editing functions such as automatic cursor positioning and key acceptance is performed locally by the xPDISPLAY.
13
In this mode, the text on lines 1, 2 and 4 of the LCD display is determined by the strings ACCLCDDispLine1, ACCLCDDispLine2, and ACCLCDDispLine4. Line 3 of the display contains the string set by ACCLCDDispLine 3. This string is expected to be filled by a DateTime as follows: Standard: European: mm/dd/yy hh:mmxm dd/mm/yy hh:mm x = a or p
If the string sent in ACCLCDDispLine 3 is not in the above format, the xPDISPLAY will format the string accordingly. It expects 5 numeric fields, from left to right, separated by a delimiter. If there are less than 5 numeric fields, the remaining fields default to 0. In the case of Standard time, it scans for the first occurrence of a pm or PM. If it finds either, it sets the pm, otherwise the default is am. This re-formatting of the Display Line 3 string occurs to facilitate editing and checking the datetime. The xPDISPLAY always reformats the ACCLCDDispLine 3 string when the mode is set to ACCLCDTimeFormat. The string is edited using the numeric keys. The cursor automatically advances after entering each digit. In Standard time, cursor over to the corresponding display position and press the 2 ABC key to set it to am. Press the 7 PQRS key to set it to pm. Line 4 of the display is used to define the 3 soft keys. Only the UP ARROW, DOWN ARROW and three soft key entries are sent to the Controller in the ACCLCDKeyStroke numeric. All other keys are used locally by the xPDISPLAY for data entry and editing. After the Enter key is pressed, the xP Display validates the date time entered in line 3. If valid, the contents of line 3 are returned in ACCLCDAnswerString. If not valid, a short beep sounds and Invalid Entry is displayed briefly on line 4 before reverting back to the original line 4 contents. The cursor is displayed at the first offending character for invalid entries.

Schneider Electric
Password mode In this mode, the text on lines 1, 2 and 4 of the LCD display is determined by the strings ACCLCDDispLine1, ACCLCDDispLine2, and ACCLCDDispLine4. The user can then enter a numeric password, up to 16 characters long, on Line 3. As the numeric keys are pressed, asterisks are displayed to hide the password from unwanted viewing. The cursor auto-advances (*) in Password mode. Only numeric entries are supported. While in Password mode, the LCDDisplayLine3 string is not used to seed the password entry. When entering Password mode, or exiting Password mode, ACCLCDAnswerStr is cleared to prevent unintended displaying of the password when the mode is changed. Pressing ENTER causes the password to be sent to the Controller in ACCLCDAnswerStr. After pressing ENTER, the asterisks remain on the screen until the Display Mode is changed. There is no editing of the password entry if the user makes a mistake entering the password, pressing CANCEL will clear the entire password and allow it to be re-entered. Line 4 of the display is determined by the string LCDDisplayLine4. The * key and the # key do not perform any function in this mode. Only the UP ARROW, DOWN ARROW and three soft key entries are sent to the Controller in the LCDKeyStroke numeric. All other keys are used locally by the display unit for data entry and editing.
15
Display Programming
The xPDISPLAY includes an LCD alphanumeric display capable of presenting information arranged as four lines of sixteen (16) characters per line. For improved readability in lowlight applications, the display includes an integral backlight that may be disabled when necessary. The xPDISPLAY can be used to display varying types of data. Displaying characters on the LCD requires: 1. You must set a particular mode of operation. Refer to the discussion of Display Modes found elsewhere in this manual. 2. Character data is loaded into the display via InfinityString variables, one for each line depending upon the Display mode. The following is a simple example for display programming: To display the message: WELCOME TO ANDOVER CONTINUUM
Set the ACCLCDDispMode numeric = 0 (Menu mode) Set ACCLCDDispLine 1 string = WELCOME TO Set ACCLCDDispLine 2 string = ANDOVER CONTINUUM There are sixteen characters on each line. To center a shorter text message within the line, surround the text with space characters.

Units Formatting
ACCLCDTimeFormat This Numeric contains an enumeration specifying whether the time is displayed in standard (0) or European (1) format. The default is standard format. These formats are as follows: Standard: European: mm/dd/yy hh:mm <am or pm> dd.mm.yy hh:mm NOTE: hh:mm is in 24-hour time
Display Backlight
ACCLCDBacklight Setting this variable to ON illuminates the backlight behind the display. To turn the backlight off, set the output to OFF. The module also supports a programmable backlight. To illuminate the backlight for a set period of time, set this variable to the number of seconds desired. The resolution of this time is specified in one-second increments with 65535 seconds being the maximum. A value of zero (0) turns the backlight off.

Keypad Programming
The xPDISPLAY includes twenty-one (21) push buttons that can be read through Plain English variables. There are two ways keypad information is retrieved from the xPDISPLAY. Depending upon the selected Display mode, single keystrokes or entire entries are sent.
Note: If a key is held down, the xPDISPLAY will auto-repeat the key after a short delay.
Data Entry
ACCLCDKeyStroke (Single Key Values) When the Display Mode is set to Menu mode, all key entries are returned to the Controller as they are pressed via the ACCLCDKeyStroke numeric. If the Display Mode is set to one of the four editing modes (Numeric, String, DateTime Data, Password), only the UP ARROW, DOWN ARROW and the three soft keys are returned to the Controller via the ACCLCDKeyStroke numeric. The value remains in the ACCLCDKeyStroke numeric for one scan. The following table indicates the button pushed and the resulting value:
Key Pressed 1 2 ABC 3 DEF 4 GHI 5 JKL 6 MNO 7 PQRS 8 TUV 9 WXYZ 0
Key Pressed
19
ACCLCDAnswerStr (Multiple Key Edit Values) This String point contains the result of a change when in an editing mode (see Mode). It is filled when an Enter key press is detected at the keypad.
Editing Keys
The * key inserts a space character and moves the cursor to the right. The # key acts as a DELETE key. When pressed the character above the cursor is deleted and the cursor moves one character to the left.
Auto-Accept
If no activity is detected for a brief interval, the xPDISPLAY automatically accepts the key entry and advances the cursor. The default time for Auto-Accept is 0.8 seconds, however, this time can be adjusted from 0.8 seconds to 5.0 seconds in the Setup Mode. The Auto Accept setting is set in 0.1 second increments. If a different key is pressed prior to Auto-Accept time expiration, the xPDISPLAY automatically shifts the cursor to the next position.
