A)Jars:1.Organ: Ovarian mass (Page 111 - Atlas of Gross Pathology) Description: A nodular smooth surfaced encapsulated cystic tumor mass. On section, the tumor is a multilocular cyst showing thick walls and smooth inner lining. Cavity is filled with mucinous material. Diagnosis: Mucinous cystadenoma of the ovary

2. Organ: Ovarian mass. (Page 112) Description: A large ovoid tumour the external surface of which is studded with papillary projections. On section, the tumor is a multilocular cyst, the inner lining of which shows numerous papillary projections. Cavity is filled with a clear serous fluid. Diagnosis: Papillary serous cystadenoma of the ovary

3. Organ : Ovarian mass (Oopherectomy specimen) (Page 113) Description:


A large ovarian tumour with smooth external surface and cystic consistency. Cut section reveals a unilocular cyst with thick capsule and a sessile projectiong nodule in one area. The lumen is filled with greasy yellowish sebaceous material and entangled hair.

Diagnosis: Benign cystic teratoma of the ovary

B) Slides :1. Teratoma, ovary (Page 99 - Atlas of Histopathology) Sections revealed tumour tissue formed of: Derivatives of ectoderm, endoderm and mesoderm.

Cystic spaces lined by respiratory columnar epithelium and stratified


squamous epithelium with skin appendages detected.

Focal islands of mature adipose tissue, hyaline cartilage and glial tissue. The fibroconnective tissue stroma shows in areas, numerous mucous
glands.
