January 2009

Dear Applicant:

Congratulations on your upcoming graduation from high school! The Swiss Colony is
honored to accept your application for a scholarship for continuing education. We support and
encourage all people to continue their education throughout their entire lives. In fact, we
encourage our employees to continue their education through daily learning in their careers,
through our in-house training programs, by providing resource material in our Employee
Resource Center, through PC training videos and with our educational reimbursement program.
We hope you will also develop this lifestyle.

Enclosed are the instructions for the scholarship application, the application, and other
forms you will need to return by February 24, 2009. No applications or supporting
documentation will be accepted after this date. Failure to supply ALL required material by the
deadline will disqualify your application. Please note that during the selection process each area
in the application is weighted by points. The more complete explanation you give for each area
(i.e. how many years you were involved, what type of club it is, whether you held an office,
received any awards, job responsibilities, your activities or involvement in the community) the
more likely you will rate higher. Please do not use acronyms. Applications for technical schools
versus 4-year colleges are judged separately.

The best of luck to you in your future, and remember to never stop learning!

Sincerely,

John Baumann, President
