1. PURPOSE : 1.1 To assist patients to know their basic rights and responsibilities as patients, to them selves, the health care team and the institution.

2. DEFINITION :
2.1 N/A.

3. POLICY : 3.1 It is the responsibility of every members of the health care team to identify and adhere to
patients rights and responsibilities that would promote trust and respect as part of the dimensions of patient care .

3.2 It is the policy of the organization, that in order to protect the personal welfare and safe
-guard the dignity of every patients as human being, the hospital and medical staff have adopted the following rights and responsibilities of patients.

3.3 Nurses must be aware and knowledgeable about the patients rights and responsibilities.
GUIDELINES : 1..Patient Rights : 1.1 The right to considerate care, with full respect of patients dignity, regardless of nationality, color, age, sex, religion, and disability (if any). 1.2. 1.3 The right to know the name of the doctor, nurses and other health workers involved in the treatment.

1.4 The right to receive all the information that you need before informed consent for any
proposed procedure and surgical intervention.

1.5 The right to expect his / her personal privacy respected to the fullest extent, con sistent with the care prescribed for.

1.6 The right to request consultation from other physician through the treating doctor
and or to request for a change of physician.

1.7 To obtain medical report upon request in accordance with the hospital policy. 1.8 The patient has the right to voice a written or oral complaint or submit suggestions to
the Department of Patient Relation or Hospital Administration.

1.9 The patient has the right to refuse to be interviewed or communicate with people not
involve in his care or to refuse visitors. 1.10 Upon discharge the patient should have access to medication, follow up, health in formation and for continuity of care. 1.11 The right to confidentiality. No information shall be disclosed without consent of the patient. 2. Patient Responsibilities: 2.1 To know and follow the law of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the hospital rules and regulations as explained by the hospital staff. 2.2 Must bring ID of the patient, or the one who brought the patient to the Hospital. In the Emergency situation when it is not available, they can bring later during visiting time. 2.3 The patient is responsible for following the care, service or treatment plan developed and recommended by the Physician primarily responsible for his / her care, including nurses and allied Health professionals carrying out the coordinated plan of care. 2.4 To provide accurate and complete information about the present complaints, past iIlnesses, hospitalizations, medications and other matters relating to his / her health. 2.5 He / she have the responsibilty to ask his / her health condition to help them under stand the course of treatment and expected outcome of his condition. 2.6 Sign the informed consent for Surgery, Medical, or Interventional procedures that may be needed during admission or in case he insisted to be discharged against medical advice, and other forms requested by the Hospital. 2.7 Adhere to the rule of Hospital Visiting time. 2.8 Be considerate to your fellow patients and hospital personnel, and assist in the control of noise, and other possible sources of unnecessary disturbance and / or discomfort. 2.9 Respect the hospital property. 2.10 Assumes the financial responsibility of paying for all services rendered whether through Insurance Company or personal payment ( for expatriates not working under the ministry of health.)
