PAMANTASAN NG LUNGSOD NG MARIKINA

One majestic afternoon, the proud City of Marikina nurtured a crowd of enthusiasts
inspired to sow a landscape of friendship geared at cultivating a culture of excellence,
personal vigor and triumph for both personal and professional advancement.

The City Government of Marikina and the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Marikina hosted
the 1st ALCULYMPICS themed “Towards a Dynamic Culture of Sportsmanship”.
January 19-23, 2009 at the pride of the city, the Marikina Sports Park were days when
no mortal could ever forget the illusion of grandeur it bestowed on earth. It was
participated by higher learning institutions whom had envisioned to be part of a greater
parcel of far excel lance in the world of academe. Respectively, the Mariano Quinto
Alarilla Polytechnic College, Meycauyan Bulacan, Tagaloan Community College,
Misamis Oriental, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, Manila, Bulacan Polytechnic
College, Malolos Bulacan, Bago City College, Negros Occidental, Pamantasan ng
Cabuyao, Cabuyao Laguna, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa, City of
Muntinlupa, Pamantsan ng Lunhsod ng Valenzuela, Valenzuela City, Urdaneta
University, Urdaneta City, Quirino Polythecnic College, Quirino Province, Laguna
University, Sta. Cruz Laguna, Gordon College, Olongapo City, Pamantasang Bayan ng
San Mateo, San Mateo Rizal, Mandaue City College, Mandaue City, University of
Makati, Makati City, Quezon City Polythecnic University, Quezon City, Pamantasan ng
Montalban, Rizal, and the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Marikina, Marikina City. These
member institutions humbled themselves to compete with endurance to topple the stiff
challenge of marginalization feed by the day to day adoration of time. The
ALCULYMPICS roofed the adrenalin draining events as basketball, volleyball,
badminton, arnis, chess, cheerdance and dance sports. The event was coroneted by the
search for Mr. and Miss ALCULYMPICS.

At the spark of the opening ceremonies were faces in apparition when the competitors
paraded to shower their mystical smiles and pride accompanied by the godly figures of
the administrators, that in their most tortured village of their lives, the traces of victory
will remain forever.

The Marikina Sports Park was transformed into Mt. Olympus when godly figures
appeared, personages that no human kind could ever resist the radiance of their
divinities. The Hon. Ma. Lourdes Carlos Fernando, Marikina City Mayor, Sec. Bayani
Fernando, CMMDA Chairman, Dr. Dalisay Brawner, President, Pamantasan ng Lungsod
ng Marikina, Atty. Adel Tamano, President, Pamantasn ng Lugsod ng Maynila and
current ALCU President, EVP Nerissa D. David, Prof. Adelina S. Patriarca, Dr. Virginia
N. Santos, Dr. Asuncion B. Howe, Dr. Nedena C. Toralba, Dr. Gerardo C. Cruz, Coun.
Jemelita B Dulla, Dr. Arlida M. Pame, Dean Narciso E. Quesada, Dr. Paulus Marie L.
Canete, Dr. Ramona C. Lomo and Mayor Paulino Y. Emano, and other personas of equal
importance.

ALCUYLYPICS 2009 was put into the spotlight of fame due to the unending stormy
nights of the Management Committee Chaired by Prof. Marcial Angeles, of Pamatasan
ng Lungsod ng Marikina.

Ending the saga of strength and power is not as jovial as the beginning, consuming the
nectar of the pleasure of winning is not as sweet as the first victory, what remained after
all are debts of gratitude to whom had shared the bosom of a cup of coffee that never be
brewed.

And these are the fruits of hard earned pleasure.

heart who quests for excellence…may the milestone of brotherhood painted be a part of
contemporary history!
