Popcorn Words/High Frequency First 9 week words:

This week we will learn about blending sounds in words. I am sending a practice page home with your child to work on with a parent. Students will work both on blending sounds to write the letters and blending sounds to hear the word. We will also learn Facts about Reindeer and do some activities to go with that concept.

Handwriting:
We will do 2 letters this week: Remember to begin letters at the top when forming for handwriting purposes.

Writers Workshop: We are writing about feelings this week. We will practice writing complete sentences after hearing prompt. Students Will do their official writing prompt for their report card this week.

Christmas Break starts on Monday the 24th and runs through Tuesday January 8th. School resumes on a Tuesday NOT
a Monday!

Reminder!!!!! Please do not send any FOOD items to school for Birthday celebrations. It seems like a fun way to celebrate your childs birthday, but it is really hard to implement and manage when it is NOT a planned activity. Also due to allergies this is never a good idea! This is a rule that is in the Kindergarten Handbook. Goody bags with non-food items are always welcome. We have 25 students currently.

Friday,December 14th-Electronics day at BPE for a donation of a toiletry item for the Needy! Your child can bring an electronic or a small toy to use during this time in our day. Wednesday December 19th- Homework for December due!! Remember this is a Family Project to Disguise a Gingerbread Person- I sent ideas and there are more ideas on the class Blog! Thursday December 20th The 2nd 9 weeks Big Event- reward day for students who have displayed excellent behavior! ) Students will be choosing from al ist of movies and will get to watch one movie with grades K-2nd grade. Permission slips for movies will go home on a decline basis- Meaning you would only sign if you disapprove of the movie. All students will not be together but mixed among their movie choice. Unfortunately I have some students who are continuing to already make bad choices over and over.. Not only in the Kdg classroom but in the lunch room and Special class as well. Some students have already been told they will miss part of The Big Event due to behavior Check your weekly Class DOJO behavior email for your child. This is important and I am attaching comments about disruptive behavior and about time taken away for the Big Event!

Assessment, Assessment, Assessment!! It is that time of year again- actually it seems that we are always assessing, but more so right before the end of the grading period. Your child has to be able to be somewhat independent with their work during these periods of assessing! Remind your child that assessments are important and help the teacher and the Parent know how they are doing in school.

I am

working hard to try to get all assessments in this next week- please be sure your child is at school! I have another Dr. visit on Monday and I will have to have surgery soon due to some health issues. There is a good possibility I will have to miss some school before Christmas. I will find out more on Monday. I will let you know as soon as I do.
