as a consequence of all those, sustainability. As our century comes to a close and we go toward the beginning of a new millenium, the survival of humanity will depend on our ecological literacy, on our ability to understand these principles of ecology and live accordingly. Fritjof Capra, The Web of Life, Anchor Books, New York, 1996, page 304 The so-called ( a term the author frequently applies to the terms of other authors) principles of ecology propounded by Doctor Capra in Berkeley, are derived from an exhaustive and often boring yet frequently self-serving review of the new science of systems. Systems views and holism are derivative of the mystical origins of human consciousnes, of science and mysticism itself. The basic realization of mystical views of reality is the unity of all. Is this not a systems view, a holistic view, in the ultimate form? The systems view in science is clearly a trend intended to correct the former trend of science toward determistic, causal world views and to build an intellectual base upon which to found a mutant political movement. More important it is an evolutionary development of psyche which has set intellect on a course toward the realization of the mystic unity of psyche - the state of consciousness which Theodore Roszak attributes Freud as naming that oceanic feeling or something close to that. The science described by Capra with acknowledgement of the work of Prigogine, Varela and Maturana in particular while also achnowledging many other contributors, is in my humble opinion truly a revolutionary trend in science that originates most recently in the radical implications of the discoveries of Max Planck, Albert Einstein, Niels Bohr, Werner Heisenberg, Erwin Schrodinger, Louis de Broglie and others in atomic physics at the turn of the century, about one hundred years ago.

If we are to accept the premise proposed by Willis Harman, we are in the beginning stage of a transformation of our view of the world. The recent history of science described by Herr Doktor Capra coherently presents the link between science (the religion of the industrial age) and the emerging Ecozoic (a term coined by Thomas Berry) Culture - the new religion. I believe that what is emerging transcends science, transcends religion, politics, business, economics and even ecologics. I believe that what is emerging is Mega Satori, a term coined by the subjective gnothi seauton inspired subjective nonentity named Malcolm E. Kukura - borrowing from the terminology of Zen Buddhism. Mega Satori is in its essence, the psychic equivalent of the arrival of evolving psyche at a critical mass ( borrowing this term from nuclear physics and atom bomb manufacturing). In nuclear technology, the assembly of a critical mass of enriched radio-active uranium (or other radioactive materials) results in the spontaneous initiation of a process by which matter is converted into energy with a resultant release of enormous amounts of energy - an explosion so to speak. Mega Satori is similarly an explosive condition yet not necessarily a destructive explosion since Mega Satori is a release of psychic energy that results from a long lived confinement of consciousness, of psyche, by cultural rules, and societal belief systems, designed specifically for that purpose, to confine consciousness to coerce people to contribute to physical security. We can condemn that physicalist materialism. Condemnation seems futile and pretentious really. Whats more pertinent is to acknowledge that physicality must be an extremely important component of the unconscious strategy of evolutionary development. So much has been sacrificed to build a strong physical material foundation. The most amazing result is the seven billion human beings who have come into existence during the last century.
