Alternate card game idea

The idea of this game is to get funding for your software engineering project. The game is played by up to 4 players where each player is trying to compete with the others for funding. Each turn players gain interest from the actions they perform and show these by the slider on their side of the board. After each of the players have had their turn (kept track of using the dial in the centre) the players gain funding depending on their level of interest and reset their interest sliders. The player with the most interest gains 3 funding, the player with the second most interest gains 2 funding and the third gains 1. The players place funding tokens on their square by their deck. The first player to reach 25 funding will win the game. The structure of a players turn is as follows. Turn structure: -Player draws two card from their deck -Player can then play any cards in their hand that they wish to play -Player uses any card effects of cards currently in play -Player passes to the next player in a clockwise direction. There will be two types of cards: Persistent cards These will be placed on spots on the board and will be able to be used each turn, only 6 can be in play at once though. Each turn the player may use the effect on these cards and they are only discarded when the player wishes to replace them or they are removed by another card effect. Event cards These cards will be used only once, once they have been used they will immediately be discarded. There will be 30 cards in each players deck and each player will have a matching deck. The decks will consist of roughly 20 event cards and 10 persistent cards. Event Card example: Persistent Card example:

Origins:
This game idea is a collection of ideas we considered for the first card game idea that didnt make it into the design. Some of the ideas were good though so we wanted to see what we could do with them in a separate game.

Links to software engineering:

The game aims to link to software engineering passively. There are no game breaking trivia questions to have to answer needlessly, just text teaching about software engineering. Each card will have a small sentence or two of flavour text on it which will aim to teach about the importance of the subject of the card without shoving it in the players face. Although, the players may choose to not read this text which could be a problem. The game also teaches about the process of gaining funding and investments and shows that your team may often be competing with others to make a project.
