Health Education Plan (Acute Respiratory Infection)

Learning Objectives: By the end of the health education teachings, the school children will be able to: o Understand more about the acute respiratory infection. o Recognize who are at risk of having acute respiratory infection and how to prevent this. 1. Cause: Leptospira bacteria 3. Discuss with the group about the signs and Symptoms of diseases caused by improper hygiene. 3. Signs/symptoms of leptospirosis: A. fever B. non-specific symptoms of muscle pain, headache C. calf-muscle pain and reddish eyes of some cases D. severe cases result to liver involvement, kidney failure or brain involvement. Thus some cases may have yellowish body discolorization, dark-colored urine and light stools, low urine output, severe headache.

Health Education Plan (Dengue)

Learning Objectives: By the end of the health education teachings, the community people will be able to: o Understand more about dengue. o Recognize what are the signs and symptoms of having dengue and its prevention and control. Target Participants: Community People Teaching / Learning Activities 1. Ask the people of their ideas about Dengue. 2. Discuss facts about Dengue. 2. DENGUE HEMORRHAGIC FEVER - is an acute infectious disease manifested initially with fever. 3. Signs and Symptoms of Dengue Contents

Dengue.

-sudden onset of high fever which may last 2 -7 days -joint and muscle pain and pain behind the eyes -weakness -skin rashes -nosebleeding when fever starts to subside -abdominal pain -vomiting of coffee-colored matter -dark-colored stools 4. Prevention and Control of Dengue -cover water drums and water pails at all times to prevent mosquitoes from breeding. -replace water in flower vases once a week. -clean all water containers once a week. Scrub the sides well to remove eggs of mosquitoes sticking to the sides. -clean gutters of leaves and debris so that rain will not collect as breeding places of mosquitoes. -old tires used as roof support should be punctured or cut to avoid accumulation of water. -collect and dispose all unusable tin cans, jars, bottles, and other items that can collect and hold water.

Health Education Plan (Tuberculosis)

Learning Objectives: By the end of the health education teachings, the community people will be able to: o Identify the signs and symptoms of Tuberculosis. o Discuss how people get Tuberculosis. o Discuss how to prevent Tuberculosis. Target Participants: Community People Teaching / Learning Activities Contents 1. Tuberculosis of the lungs is a long lasting communicable disease that anyone can get. It is caused by a germ called Tubercle bacilli. 2. Most frequent signs of TB:

1. Discuss to the group what is Tuberculosis.

2. Discuss the signs and symptoms of Tuberculosis.

-prolonged cough, more than 2 weeks -mild fever in the afternoon, sweating at night -pain in the chest and upper back -prolonged loss of weight and increasing weakness -coughing of blood -pale skin -voice grows hoarse 3. Explain how a person gets Tuberculosis. 3. A person gets TB by: -inhaling germs laden air from a person sick with TB when he coughs or sneezes -inhaling the dust carrying TB germs arising from sputum of a tuberculous person -using the domestic utensil of a person sick with TB -sleeping together with a person sick with TB -wet nursing by tuberculous mothers -drinking milk from tuberculous cattle

4 .Discuss to the group the things a person sick with TB should do.

4. A person with TB should: -have a separate bed. Sleep in a room under a mosquito net. -cover his mouth and nose with a handkerchief whenever he coughs or sneezes -do not spit anywhere. Spit in a plastic bag and burn it. -separate his own personal utensils for eating, drinking, as well as towels, linens, beddings and mat. -consult his doctor regularly and follow strictly his advice and instructions. -take his medications regularly

Health Education Plan (Family Planning)

Learning Objectives: By the end of the health education teachings, the community people will be able to: o Discuss the importance of Family Planning. o Recognize the effects of too many children and too close pregnancy on the health welfare of the mother and children. o Explain the different methods of contraception. Target Participants: Community People Teaching / Learning Activities Contents 1. Sample Answers: -provide enough food, clothing, shelter, education, etc.

1. Ask the parents about their responsibilities with their children.

-give them examples of good moral character, etc. 2. Discuss with the group the meaning of FP. 2. FP is deciding: -the number of children a married couple would want -when to have the next baby -to use responsible means to achieve the couples goal -to seek help so that childless couple will have children 3. The diff. methods of FP -IUD -99.4% effective -lasts up to 10 years -small and soft (T shaped) plastic inserted into the womans uterus -has no effect with lactation and coitus -DMPA -99.7% effective -one dose per 3 months -Pills -safe if properly used -does not affect coitus -taken orally at same time -Condom -98% effective if properly used -worn by an erect penis before having sexual intercourse -effective if used properly -helps in preventing STDs -Standard Days Method -95% effective if properly used -uses cycle beads to determine fertile and infertile days of women

3.Lecture on the different methods of FP.

-applicable for women with 26-32 days of menstrual cycle -LAM -99.5% effective if properly used -prevents ovulation of women -BBT -99% effective -in order for the woman to know if she is fertile, she will get her temperature before getting up after sleeping 3 hours or more -Sympto-thermal Method -98% effective -observation of temperature together with some symptoms of being fertile like presence of cervical mucus, etc. -Cervical Mucus Method -97% effective -the woman observes the mucus that goes out from her genital to know if she is fertile

-Bilateral Tubal Ligation -99.5% effective -the fallopian tubes are being tied and cut-off -does not affect coitus -No Scalpel Vasectomy -99.9% effective -the vas deferens are being tied and cut-off Method of Evaluation: Community people will be made aware and understand about the different Family Planning Methods and will be asked for their further questions and discuss it with the group.
