Important Floating License Installation Information

Below are the instructions for installing the ESPRIT Floating License Server. Please read all instructions before configuring your server.

Prerequisites for the ESPRIT 2009 Floating License Server


The following operating systems are supported by the ESPRIT 2009 Floating License Server: Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 or greater Microsoft Windows Vista

The following operating system components are required by ESPRIT 2009: SafeNet Sentinel drivers version 5.39 or greater

Installation Instructions for Server Side


Below are the installation instructions for the ESPRIT Floating License Server based on your installation case. Please find the case that most closely matches your situation and follow those instructions.

New ESPRIT 2009 Floating License Server Install


Use the following instructions if a previous version of ESPRIT Floating License Server has never been installed on the computer. You must perform the prerequisites before you can proceed with the installation. Prerequisites: 1. From the Prerequisites folder on the product CD, install the Sentinel drivers. 2. Plug the security module into the USB or parallel port of the computer. Install the ESPRIT Floating License Server: 1. On the product CD, start the FloatingLicense.exe. 2. On the Windows Start menu, click All Programs > ESPRIT 2009 > License Manager. 3. On the File menu, select Mode and change the mode to Network Server. 4. On the Edit menu, select Network Server (Floating) > Server > Read Locking Code. 5. From the dialog, select Send via Email to request your password file (*.pwd). Alternatively, the password file can be obtained by emailing NetworkLicenses@dptechnology.com. 6. After you have received the password file from DP Technology, on the Edit menu select Network Server (Floating) > Server > Select Password File. 7. Browse and select the *.pwd file that has been provided.

Upgrading an Existing Floating License Server


You will need your password file to perform the following steps. Your password file is e-mailed to you prior to you receiving the ESPRIT 2009 CDs. If you have lost the file, you may request that it be resent by e-mailing NetworkLicenses@dptechnology.com. For faster access, it can be obtained by logging onto the ESPRITWeb (www.dptechnology.com) and selecting Company Details to download your password file. 1. On the Windows Start menu, click All Programs > ESPRIT 2009 > License Manager.

2. On the Edit menu, select Network Server (Floating) > Server > Select Password File. 3. Browse and select the *.pwd file that has been provided.

Installation Instructions for Client Side


Below are the installation instructions for accessing the ESPRIT Floating License Server from the client computers.

ESPRIT 2009 Client Side Install


Once the ESPRIT 2009 installation is completed follow these instructions to setup the client computers to access the ESPRIT Floating License Server. 1. On the Windows Start menu, click All Programs > ESPRIT 2009 > License Manager. 2. On the File menu, select Mode and change the mode to Network Server Now you should be able to see the licenses just as you would on the server computer. If you are unable to see the licenses from the client computers you will need to add a key to the registry. 1. On Windows XP: Click Start > Run. On Windows Vista: Click Start > All Programs > Accessories > Run. 2. Type regedit 3. Find the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\D.P.Technology\ESPRIT\SLM7 4. Right click on the SLM7 Key and select New > String Value 5. Add the value BDC 6. Double click on the BDC string and set the value to True 7. Exit the Registry Editor

Note: The Sentinel drivers are included on the ESPRIT 2009 CD for your convenience; you will find them in the Prerequisites folder.
