Purpose
The Outreach event was held to: Present current and future opportunities (2012-2015) controlled by the Districts Department of Transportation; Encourage participation by engineering, construction and related services firms who are certified as either a DBE, CBE or both; and Provide overviews of the DBE and CBE certification process, and the Districts First Source program. The opportunities concentrated on projects that are directly related to the three (3) Megaprojects currently under DDOT: 11th Street Bridge, Anacostia Waterfront initiative (AWI), and District Streetcar. Opportunities also included projects from DDOTs Capital Improvements Plan (CIP). All of the information presented at the Outreach event business/employment opportunities, CBE, DBE and First Source overviews, program/project contact information, DDOTs DBE On-the Job training (OJT) program and DBE certification package was loaded onto flash drives for each participant.

Attendees
Overall, it was a mix of engineering, construction and related services firms who are either currently doing business, or interested in doing business with DDOT. Attendees were surveyed after the event with approximately 58.3% of respondents rating the event at Excellent; and 95% said they would attend the next DDOT DBE/CBE outreach event. (Event survey attached)

Next Steps
General. Encourage more teaming amongst DBE and CBE firms Work with consultants and contractors to identify career paths that District residents, including students can follow in the engineering and construction industry Include similar and additional outreach events to DDOT calendar with a concentration on networking with DDOT Project and Program Managers; regular updates to opportunities forecast Forecasting.. Break out projects further by engineering discipline, construction trade, etc. to better identify more opportunities for participation by DBE and CBE firms Track actual opportunities versus anticipated as per information presented and provided to each participant
