Finding dependable lighting in a blackout situation is no longer a problem. The 2480 ELS houses our MityLite 2440PL (with a photoluminescent body that emits a bright glow in the dark). Use the bright 5-LED array to light your way to safety, powered by alkaline/titanium cells that provide extended burn time and long shelf life. The strong polycarbonate case, with photoluminescent labels that are visible from a long distance, can be mounted on any surface.

The 9450 Remote Area Lighting System combines our tough 1510 Carry On Case with 16 x 1 watt Luxeon LEDs mounted in an aluminum heat sink. All items are stored inside the case and assemble in minutes. The aluminum pole extends to a height of 83" to provide 640 lumens of light for any area. The rechargeable battery has 9 hours of life at maximum output tailing off to low light level at hour 14. The diffuser (included) can be mounted to change the beam from a focused spot to a diffused beam.

Exclusive duty and tactical light of the L.A.P.D
Working together in a unique public/private endeavor, the Los Angeles Police Department and Pelican Products, Inc. have redefined the tactical application of the standard duty light. Using a consensus approach, the LAPD solicited input from all levels of law enforcement, the City of Los Angeles, and most importantly, officers serving on the streets. In the end, the specifications called for a new dual switch design, and Pelican Products began the R&D to make the light into a reality. An officer on patrol needs the burn time and convenience of a head switch duty light, but if the situation goes tactical a tail switch with momentary activation and blinding brightness is called for. The new Pelican 7060 serves both purposes in a single, compact unit.

PELICAN STORY

Through his experience he discovered that certain things he needed to make a dive complete were simply not available. It dawned on him that if I need something like this, Ill bet all the other divers do, too! It was from this epiphany that Pelican Products was born, in the great American tradition on a shoe string budget, in a dirt floor old garage with the Pelican Float as its first product and patent. After a days work at his advertising and industrial design business, Dave and his wife and co-founder, Arline, a flight attendant for TWA, would spend evenings in their garage building floats. Dave handled the assembly side of the business. Arline boxed, billed and mailed everything out between her regularly scheduled flights. Daves homemade float was sold through mail order ads placed in magazines. It was soon apparent that Pelican Products was not going to stay a garage operation for very long. From the birth of the Float, Pelican has developed into a multi-product, multi-industry company with a complete line of submersible and waterproof, safety approved flashlights and equipment ProtectorTM cases. From a backyard part time mail order operation, Pelican has become a thriving ISO 9001-2000 approved, self-contained, fully operational molding, manufacturing and design corporation with over 500 employees worldwide. In addition to the Torrance main office and manufacturing facility, we have offices in Barcelona, Spain, Cheba, Japan, and Edmonton, Canada. Yes, Pelican and its product lines have grown a great deal over the past several years. And many things will continue to grow and change except this: Pelicans Commitment to Excellence and of course, our Legendary You break it, we replace it foreverTM Guarantee.

Pelican Products came into existence as a direct result of founder Dave Parkers desire to develop unique and practical products for the dive market. An avid diver since age 11 (after reading a June, 1954 issue of Popular Science magazine, which outlined how to build a crude S.C.U.B.A. device using a garden hose, a paint compressor, a power lawn mower engine and an enema bag), Dave has dived some of the most exotic spots in the world.

Im often asked, how did you come up with a great name like Pelican? Arline and I originally named our tiny new company Dolphin Products, but it just didnt seem to flow well. We wanted a happy, carefree name that people liked and wouldnt easily forget. One Friday evening in 1974, while heading due west for Catalina Island on our boat, Arline suddenly jumped up off her seat, spilling red wine all over our newborn son, J.D. and yelled, Look, look! I looked up, just in time to see two Brown Pelicans gliding gracefully across our bow, perfectly silhouetted by a huge, golden yellow setting sun. Arline said, Thats it, lets name it Pelican and I said Youre on babe! And so Pelicans legend began.
