We can not push reservations beyond a point. True the SC/ST need to be helped.

That help today is getting diluted because half of India is now in the reserved category. This is destroying Merit by a new COMMUNISM of caste. What worries me is the kind of fractured Identity politics of caste , creed and religion that these reservations are promoting. The leaders of our Freedom struggle had striven desperately to bridge the divisions of caste, creed and religion and create a PAN INDIAN IDENTITY. Today where are the INDIANs?We are Jats , Gujjars , Thakurs, Kurmis , Mahatos, etc etc etc. Where are the indians I ask? A US corrospondent had said The only thing INDIAN about India is the INDIAN ARMY! There is NO reservation in the Indian Army- but our boys of the SIKH LI and MAHARS have fought better than anyone else for their country and are damned proud of it. They have not sought any Charity but stood up PROUDLY as INDIANS and competed with all the others on an EQUAL FOOTING. They are the shining examples we should follow. Let our politicians stop this segmented mobilisation on the basis of IDENTITY. It will break our country.It is now timeto HALT this fracturing process.
