Distinctive Chesterfields is a family owned and run company of two generations, About Our Company 2
with our showroom and offices based in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, and
Workshops close by.

We do not produce mass market products- we supply a high quality, craftsman
built product bespoke to each customers’ individual requirements.

The assembly and upholstery of a Leather Chesterfield or Club Chair requires a
great deal of skill, in many areas.
Club and Study Chairs 35
The frames are hand made by time-served frame makers using high grade materials
in a traditional workshop.

The leather is selected, finished and cut by experienced leather workers, who have

a keen eye for only the best quality leathers.

The upholstering is undertaken by Apprentice trained upholsterers, specially Footstools 40

taught to work with leather, Masters in their field.

At Distinctive chesterfields, we do not believe in cutting corners. That is why you Signature Collection 41
can be assured that we will never use PU panels, Rig or regenerated leather, splits
or demic leather.

There are many steps in the process of creating a Distinctive Chesterfield. We are
proud to say that all are undertaken by highly skilled craftsmen, Using traditional
methods, Quality products, and the finest materials available, Right here at the
workshops, in England.

Based on the classic chesterfield shape, the Derby is reminiscent of the turn of the century study sofa.
It features a stiff hand sprung and buttoned base and is available as standard in up to four seats.

 Leather Swatches
Our Leathers are selected at source for fineness, texture, evenness, and feel. This means that only the highest quality end product is received by you, our customer.

Antique Leathers
These are our standard leathers– fine in quality and available in ten different
colours, these leathers are blacked prior to being applied to the frame. Then,
once assembly is finished, the leather is rubbed by hand, removing the black and
revealing the colour below. Once this is complete, the entire product is then hand

sealed to protect the leather and final finish. This painstaking process gives the end
product an authentic, antiqued appearance.

Premier Leathers
If you are looking for something more in your sofa or chair, the premier leather
range is for you.

These leathers are pre-treated with a special blend of natural finishing products and
because of this give great contrast on any piece of furniture. The grain is finer than
the antique range and these leathers feel softer to the touch. The range of colours
available is vast, with nineteen standard shades available.

Hand Dyed Leathers Saddle Bruciato Chestnut Dark Brown Smoke Black Gamay Burgundy Alga

The ultimate in leather finishing- the hand dyed range add an element of total
individuality to your furniture.

The Hand Dying process is a time honoured, traditional method of leather finishing
which has been done the same way for many centuries. The leather is vegetable
tanned and is dyed by hand by a professional leather worker, before being sealed
and sent to final assembly where it is applied to your piece. The finish is a rich,
deep colour over a very fine grained leather- soft to touch. The leather will develop
its own characteristic patina after many years of use and really will become better Walnut Chestnut Mahogany Oak Ebony
and better with age.
