A Quartet of Yummy Purses Set 1

These little drawstring barrel purses are perfect for any little girl big girls love them too for carrying a small number of items. The beads are crocheted into the design they will not come off! The bottom is reinforced with a recycled CD and lined to cover it up, this decreases sagging when your little princess fills it with her treasures! Finished measurements are approximately 5.5 in diameter, and the tallest purse (cupcake) is approximately 6.5.

Materials list:
Red Watermelon Purse: 1 ounce emerald green cotton worsted yarn (A) ounce mint green cotton worsted yarn (B) 2 ounces red cotton worsted yarn (C) 50 4mm or 6mm black pony beads Pink Watermelon Purse: 1 ounce green apple cotton worsted yarn (A) ounce white cotton worsted yarn (B) 2 ounces medium pink cotton worsted yarn (C) 50 4mm or 6mm black pony beads Strawberry Purse: 2 ounces red cotton worsted yarn (A) 1 ounce emerald green cotton worsted yarn (B) Small amount light yellow yarn (C) Small amount white yarn (D) 70 4mm or 6mm yellow pony beads 1 small yellow button 1 hair clip, or pin Sewing needle and thread, or sturdy fabric glue Cupcake Purse: 2 ounces brown cotton worsted yarn (A) 2 ounces light pink cotton worsted yarn (B) 50 multi-colored 4mm or 6mm pony beads For all styles, you will also need: Size F and H crochet hooks Yarn needle 1 used CD

Gauge: Gauge is not extremely important for this project, however finished base should be slightly larger than the CD approximately 5.5. You may adjust your gauge by using smaller or larger hook. Special Stitches used in these patterns: BPSC (back post single crochet): Insert hook from back to front to back again around post of stitch in the previous round. Pull up a loop, YO and pull through both loops on hook. FPHDC (front post half double crochet): YO, insert hook from front to back to front again around post of stitch in the previous round. Pull up a loop, YO and pull through all three loops on hook. BSC (beaded single crochet): Pull bead up close to work. Keeping the bead in front of work, insert hook in stitch behind the bead, pull up a loop, YO and pull through both loops on hook. ********************************************************************************************

NOTE: Before beginning with color C, string beads onto yarn with a yarn needle. Round 1: With H hook and A, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook, join with a sl st to first sc. (6 sc) Round 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in same st as joining. 2 sc in each st around, join with a sl st to first sc. Strap With H hook and B, and leaving a long tail, ch 101. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in ea chain across. In last ch, work 3 sc, turn to work along other side of ch, sc in each free loop of ch across, 2 sc in first ch, join with sl st to first sc, finish off, leaving a long tail. Sew strap to inside of purse, below the 8th and 23rd spaces of round 28. Drawstring With F hook and C, ch 111, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, and ea chain across, finish off, and set aside. Base insert With H hook and A, make a duplicate circle, using rounds 1-9 of purse, finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Insert CD into bottom of purse, and place the insert over it, right side up. Sew through base insert and round 9 of base of purse, sandwiching the CD in between. Weave drawstring through spaces on round 28. ********************************************************************************************

With H hook and A, repeat rounds 1 11 of Watermelon purse. Round 12: Sc in first 5 sc, BSC in next st, * sc in next 5 sc, BSC in next st*, 8 times. (50 sc, 10 BSC) Round 13: Sc in ea sc around. Top flower Round 1: With white and F hook, ch 2, 5 sc in 2nd ch from hook, join to first sc with sl st. Round 2: Ch 2, (dc, ch 2, sl st) in same stitch as joining, *sl st, ch 2, dc, ch 2, sl st* in next sc, repeat from * to * 3 times, finish off. Finishing Sew or glue button to center of top flower. Sew or glue top flower to bottom flower. Sew or glue clip or pin to the back of blossom.
