Studio 101 Featuring Zumba Fitness & More Local Argyle resident Heidii Donahue recently renovated the building on Main Street into a cutting edge Dance Studio. This studio features a large dance floor, surround sound and a childrens play room equipped with DVDs and Wii. Heidii is the licensed instructor who teaches each class and has recently been licensed to instruct Zumbatomic which is a high energy, hiphop dance class for kids ages 4-12. She felt that bringing a fitness studio into the small town would encourage the town to get healthy without having to drive a long distance, which can be a factor in starting an exercise program. Visit Studio 101 and start off the New Year with a fitness program for yourself. For more information call: 518- 744-2966 heidii4.zumba.com

Do they like to pretend to be those people or live in that time period? Then the multi-county 4-H Living History program might be for your kids. This is an excellent program for home school youth or public schooled children, who are ages seven and older, to explore their heritage, community, and expand their knowledge of local history. The program is a four part series where youth will 1) explore living history, 2) choose a person or time period they are interested in, 3) research and learn about that person or era, and 4) participate in a Living History Fair where youth will share what they have learned with others. Cornell Cooperative Extensions 4-H Youth Development program will be facilitating this 4 part series starting on Tuesday, January 8, at 6:30pm at the Hudson Falls Public Library (tentative). The second session will be held Tuesday, January 22, 6:30pm at the Hudson Falls Public Library. The Third & Fourth Session will be determined at a later date. Please contact John Bowe, 4-H Team Leader for more information 518623-3291 or 668-4881.

He is mellow, friendly, sweet, and gentle. He loves to be held and would make a great lap cat. He would love his new home an indoor only home. If you are looking for the perfect cat to complete your family please come meet Tommy Boy. Gizmo came into Second Chance with his brother Hunter because their owners could no longer afford to care for them. They are both inside/outside cats but an indoor only home would be better. Their previous owners said they were both good with dogs and other cats but they a bit on the shy side. If you think Gizmo and Hunter would be the perfect addition to your home please ask a staff member for more information. Ashley is a petite spayed female tabby. She is very shy and needs some extra TLC for her new family. She is independent and can be friendly once she is comfortable. She would love a quiet home and a home that allows her to be an indoor/outdoor kitty. Since she came to us from a farm living that might be just what she needs again. So if you are looking for a kitty to complete your home and Ashley sounds perfect please come meet her.

HOLIDAY GIVING: ANOTHER WAY THAT SARATOGA HOSPITAL STAFF HELP HEAL THE COMMUNITY- For employees at Saratoga Hospital, the holiday season is a time to help heal the community by fulfilling wishes for area children and seniors in need, supporting fellow staff members and, this year, reaching out to victims of Hurricane Sandy. Following are just some examples of hospital employees recent generosity:Serving as Santa for Seniors: Hospital staff provided gifts for more than 100 seniors served by Home Instead Senior Cares Be a Santa to a Senior program. Seniors names and gift requests are written on paper ornaments, which are hung on a tree in the hospital. Within an hour, the tree was bareand hospital employees were asking for more names. Filling Empty Stockings: The hospital once again participated in the Saratoga County Childrens Committee Empty Stockings program. Staff adopted 45 area children and provided every item on their wish lists. Stocking Pantry Shelves: The hospitals Public Safety team held a food drive to benefit local pantries, donating seven large cartons filled with nonperishable items. Benefiting Catholic Charities: A tree decorated by employees on the hospitals D1 medical/surgical/telemetry floor won Best in Show at the annual Saratoga Festival of Trees. Even more important, the tree was sold for $400 all of which went to Catholic Charities of Saratoga, Warren, and Washington Counties, beneficiary of the event. Acting as Secret Santa: Families of five hospital employees are having a happier holiday, courtesy of the hospitals Public Safety Department. Public Safety staff raised over $1,000 and served as Secret Santa to hospital colleagues facing hardships this year. Reaching Out to Hurricane Victims: Staff at the hospitals Wilton Medical Arts and Saratoga Family Physicians offices opted to forgo their traditional Thanksgiving celebration, using the money instead to buy essential supplies for victims of Hurricane Sandy. Supplies were delivered to NYPD Community Affairs Bureau, which distributed them in New York City and Long Island.

CARMODY FORD HOLDS FUNDRAISER FOR LOCAL BOY Carmody Ford, located in Greenwich, NY, held their second annual Drive for a Causefundraiser on November 16th and 17thto help raise money for local six year old boy, Casey Wolff. This past April, Casey was diagnosed with End-Stage Renal Disease, a disease that causes kidney failure and can only be treated with dialysis or transplant. In August, Casey had both kidneys removed at Childrens Hospital in Boston. With numerous trips to and from Albany Medical Center since then, Casey received a phone call on October 5th fromAlbany Medical stating that they had found a donor for him. He had his transplant performed back at Childrens Hospital in Boston and is recovering well! With medical bills and transportation costs accumulating, Carmody Ford held the two day benefit to raise funds to assist the Wolff family. A grand total of $2,255 was raised and donated to the Casey Wolff Medical Fund. The amount raised was a combined effort between $5 donations by the dealer for every test drive that took place during the event, $50 for every vehicle sold, and raffle ticket sales. Raffle and auction items were kindly donated by local businesses and the community, including: Espressohuis Restaurant, Saratoga Apple, True Value of Hoosick, Over Time Antiques & More, Capital Tractor, Penny Wise, Ruby Nimble Thimble, John Deere, Jeans Place,Old Saratoga Wine & Spirits, Greenwich House of Pizza, Schuylerville Pizza & Pasta, Subway of Greenwich, Lauren Turczak of Party Lite, Poppys Girls, YMCA of Greenwich, Weaver Mobil, Thruway Beverage, King Arthur Flour, Phil Giroux, Cars.com, Auto Trader, Advanced Auto of Greenwich, RBS Citizens, Byrons Market, Glens Falls National, Green Acres Tavern, Margaret Roberson, Boneyard BBQ, The Sales Team at Carmody Ford (JC Carmody, Mike Savage, Nick Vooris, JesseyGargano, Craig Kyer, Todd Distazio, Chris Weir, Rick McEachron, and Mark Robillard), Aubuchon Hardware, The Ice Cream Man, and Hannaford Supermarket. The event also featured a cook-out courtesy of Boneyard BBQ, a bounce house for children, and music courtesy of 2 local radio stations that were on site for live remotes. What a great turnout!said JC Carmody, President of Carmody Ford.It was wonderful to watch the community come together and help raise funds for little Casey, stated Carmody. COURTNEY LUSKIN, RENSSELAER COUNTY DAIRY PRINCESS, REPORTS: The holiday season is here and in full swing. Its one of my favorite times of the year, spending time with great family and friends. We often get caught up with all the tasty treats, holiday parties, and big meals. Remember to keep yourself on a healthy tract with your diet and exercise. Each day try to get yourself and your children to exercise for at least sixty minutes. Go for a walk, make up a holiday game to play with family, and go outside to play in the snow, if we get any. Be sure to stay away from all the holiday treats and enjoy some healthy snacks. Dont be afraid to bring a healthy treat to parties and serve healthy meals for your family. One important item to keep in check is the beverages that you drink. Stay away from sport drinks, juices, iced teas, and soda, not only are these drinks mostly full of sugar, but they provide you with very few nutrients. Milk is your best choice, providing you with nine essential nutrients and a powerhouse of flavor. Many of the nutrients that milk contains are lacking in many peoples diets today. So during this holiday season keep thinking about watching your diet and booting up your exercise to keep healthy. Enjoy your happy and healthy holiday season with those who you appreciate this year. This recipe is for my favorite appetizer, it is easy and a great treat is to have the kids help. Spending time with family is what the holidays are all about.
