If a team scores they can immediately go collect another ball from the half way line and continue play. A player from the team that was * scored upon must go and recover (collect) the ball and bring it back to the half way line to replace the one just taken. If a player shoots and misses the goal (target) they must run and recover the ball. The defending team then regains possession by * playing the ball closest to where the ball went out of play. The recovering play replaces this ball. If the ball goes out for a throw. The throw-in is taken where the ball went out using the closest ball to where the ball exited the field. * Once the throw is taken the player who conceded the throw-in replaces the one just thrown in. If the ball goes out for a corner kick. The corner is taken from the side the ball went out on. Once the kick is taken the player who * conceded the corner replaces the one just played in. 1) 2) 3) 4) A1 shoots and misses the goal. A1 then recovers the ball they shot. Meanwhile, B2 runs over to Ball 1 and continues play with a new ball. A1 replaces Ball 1 with the ball they recovered and rejoins play.

If any of the above conditions are not met an indirect free kick is awarded to the opposing team. SCORING: Normal Full size goals. KEY COACHING POINTS: 1) Players need to be aware of the game conditions at all times and their play should reflect these. 2) Players should be working between 70-100% of their maximum heart rate (MaxHR). 3) Teams should look to counter attack and take advantage of quick re-starts and number-up scenarios. 4) Attacking transition should be fast. 5) Players recovering balls need to work hard as their team is down during the period they are out of play. PROGRESSIONS 1) Play 2 touch, except on the tackle where 3 touches are allowed. VARIATIONS: 1) 2) 3) Modify the rest periods to vary the intensity of the practice. Reduce to 1 minute interval breaks. Reduce the total number of players to increase the intensity of this exercise. (i.e. play 3vs3 +2GK). Increasing the dimensions of the field will also increase the intensity of the exercise.

NOTES AND OBSERVATIONS: The exercise intensity should be highly than that of a normal training match as a result of the conditions applied to the game. Continue to add conditions to the game if the desired work rate (intensity) is not being performed by the players (i.e. limited touches/pitch size). Encourage the group of players to take their pulses and calculate their heart rate during the breaks and immediately after the exercise to check how hard they have been working.
