This resource is offered to the voting public so that they can make more informed decisions about how to allocate their Democracy Dollars.
***This is an example document. Once the Own Our Democracy Amendment is passed, the Ohio Secretary of State will administer Democracy Dollars. The actual guidebook will be contain thousands of platforms, from every qualifying candidate, political party, and political initiative. And will be searchable by each individual voters location. For the sake of illustration, the following Guidebook would have been available to a voter in Vermilion, Ohio for the 2012 election cycle.

US Senate
Sherrod Brown
098234 Party: Democratic Sherrod Brown was born and raised in Mansfield, Ohio and attended the local public schools. Sherrod has been a leader on health care issues throughout his service in Congress. Americans should not live just one illness or pink slip away from bankruptcy because of out- of-control health care costs and insurance policy loopholes they should have access to the same kind of health insurance that Members of Congress have. Sherrod doesnt just talk the talk. As a matter of principle, he refused to accept the congressional health care plan until affordable health insurance was available to Ohioans. And he continues to fight insurance company and pharmaceutical company lobbyists in order to make health care more affordable for seniors, workers, and small businesses. For more information: SherrodBrown.com Josh Mandel 0983799 Party: Republican Washington politicians have put us on an unsustainable spending path that threatens to bankrupt our nation. Federal spending has more than doubled since Sherrod Brown came to Washington in 1993. Spending as a percentage of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) increased from 21.4% to 24.1% during those same two decades. Over the past three years under Obama/Brown, federal spending has skyrocketed to a higher percentage of GDP than at any point since World War II. To save our country from bankruptcy, we must change Washingtons irresponsible spending habits. We need to elect leaders with the guts to say NO to the status quo and NO to the special interests that fuel the spending fire. For more information: JoshMandel.com

Representative to Congress (9th District)

Marcy Kaptur 0989830
Party: Democratic Currently serving her 15th term, Congresswoman Kaptur has the most experience of any woman in the U.S. House of Representatives and ranks 13th in seniority among 435 members. The daughter of a Polish-American family with humble, working-class roots, Congresswoman Kaptur mirrors the bootstrap nature of her district. She still lives in the same house where she grew up. Her family ran a small grocery and her mother worked in a spark plug factory where she helped organize the workers into an auto trade union. She led the fight in Congress against the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), most favored nation status for China, and other trade deals that have accelerated offshoring and decimated Americas manufacturing sector. She has introduced legislation to renegotiate unbalanced trade agreements to reflect the principle of fair trade that respects workers rights and protects the environment.

Sean Stipe

Party: Libertarian Sean Stipe seeks to Repeal the 2011 National Defense Authorization Act which now lets the government detain Americans indefinitely, without charges, right to a defense or speedy trial. I would also repeal the misnamed Patriot Act.

To protect the value of our dollar, I want to see a full audit of the the privately owned central bank known as the Federal Reserve. I will promote the end of the IRS and the immoral income tax. Ending all federal withholding will empower individuals by increasing personal income, it will also create an environment for job creations that will see world companies flock to the USA to set up shop. Please read more at FairTax.org I will base every vote on it's constitutionality.

098233

Party: Republican I (along with other freedom-loving Americans) have spent the last 3 years watching now President Obama make good on his threat of spreading the wealth around. Its not working for us. Rather than spreading the wealth around, hes making EVERYONE poor to gain political control. We all have to work to stop this insanity. I am choosing not to be a spectator in the governing of this country. I am choosing to fight the power grabs and corruption that is permeating every level of our government. I am running for Congress in the 9th District of Ohio. And Im asking you to stand with me. Enough is enough.
