Please vote out career congressman

Dont forget they got a raise for doing such a great job Letters: Why does Congress get a pay raise? http://shar.es/4n6pn Some key things that happened today:

The Joint Committee on Taxation has reported the Senate Bill to avert the fiscal cliff will cost $4 Trillion. According to the Congressional Budget Office, the last-minute fiscal cliff deal reached by congressional leaders and President Barack Obama cuts only $15 billion in spending while increasing tax revenues by $620 billiona 41:1 ratio of tax increases to spending cuts. Republican Majority Leader Eric Cantor came out to say he would not vote for the Senate Bill. This could be the beginnings of him making a run for Speaker later this week. We are also hearing that Speaker John Boehner likely will not support the Senate proposal either. The Senate bill allows the payroll tax holiday to expire, which would

effectively raise taxes on all income earners. While the payroll tax holiday may have been a bad deal in the first place, when the Democrats say that taxes for most Americans will not be going up, they aren't being completely honest. The truth is taxes will go up on all income earners by 2%. Most importantly the Senate bill makes no serious effort to solve our greatest issue, overspending. Early reports showed for each dollar in spending cuts there were $41 tax increases, and the latest reports say for every dollar in spending cuts there are $4 in tax increases. So much for a balanced approach. 6. So why is the bill 157-pages long?

Because when Washington does business and passes a huge bill, there are all kinds of little other pre-existing tax things most Americans have never heard of, but which needed to be extended, that also get into the bill. Its just how it works.

7. 1. Theres a provision extending a tax policy related to Puerto Rican rum.

8. 9. 2. And a tax credit for 2- and 3-wheel electric vehicles.

10.

11.

3. Something having to do with Diesel Fuel:

12.

13. 4. An extension of some special rules for the film and television business.

14.

15.

5. A gift to the car-racing world.

16. 17. 6. Help to asparagus farmers.

18. Some might think this is nefarious that politicians see a huge bill and then

sneak in all these random things. The reality is more like these have been around for a while, and every time a big bill comes up about taxes expiring, they get extended too.
