Configure a new G700 Example

Config for G700 Boxes follows below. G700 setup in CM via ASA is farther down in doc.
Connections for Administration: - CONSOLE jack on front of box 9600 / N / 8 / 1 for serial connection accesses Cajun / Media Gtwy. - SERVICES jack on S8300 Set static IP on laptop to 192.11.13.5, mask 255.255.255.252. Connect to IP 192.11.13.6 to access server via web interface or ASA (before permanent IP is assigned) - EXT 1 is for connection to the LAN. Login via serial port

Disable Spanning Tree on G700 before plugging in to the LAN!!! note lower in doc for how-to. P330-1(super)# configure LOOK!!! - For MG #2(2nd box) config, stop here, and type SESSION 2 to get to 2nd box, then type SESSION MGP to get to MGP config. Now move to first MG-??? line below P330-1(configure)# nvram init Cajun resets, log back in to config mode. P330-1(configure)#set interf inband 1 555.555.5.25 255.255.255.0 < ip address for Cajun> <subnet address for Cajun>
(use above address to connect to the gateway via a web browser for more info and config later on)

P330-1(configure)#reset Log back in to config mode P330-1(configure)#show interface inband P330-1(configure)#set ip route 0.0.0.0 555.555.5.1 <destination = 0.0.0.0> <gateway = 555.555.5.1> P330-1(configure)#show ip route P330-1(configure)#session mgp MG-???-1(super)#configure MG-???-1(configure)#nvram init MG-???-1(configure)#reset mgp - log back in to mgp config mode P330-1(configure)#session mgp MG-???-1(super)#configure 1

MG-???-1(configure)#set interface mgp 1 555.555.5.26 255.255.255.0 (for MG 1) 555.555.5.27 255.255.255.0 (for MG 2) <vlan = 1> <ipadd> <mask> MG-???-1(configure)#reset mgp Log back in to mgp config mode - P330-1(configure)#session mgp - MG-???-1(super)#configure MG-???-1(configure)#show interface mgp Verify that settings are there. MG-???-1(configure)#set ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 555.555.5.1 Destination & mask set to 0.0.0.0 <destination = 0.0.0.0> <mask = 0.0.0.0> <gateway> MG-???-1(configure)#show ip route mgp MG-???-1(configure)#set interface voip v0 555.555.5.28(for Voip #1) 555.555.5.29 (for Voip #2) MG-???-1(configure)#show interface voip v0 MG-???-1(configure)#set mgc list 555.555.5.6, 555.555.5.7, 555.555.5.30 (separate by commas) - 1st & 2nd are C-LANs on the S8710. - 3rd is the ICC address of the S8300 (configured in the web interface). MG-???-1(configure)#show mgc list MG-???-1(configure)#set mgp reset-times transition-point 2 (2 = the number of C-LAN boards, so 2 is good in this example since there are 2 C-LAN cards in Milfords S8710) LastlyDisable Spanning Tree! otherwise the LAN switch port may auto disable. P330-1(configure)# set span disable To set LSP transition points
1. At the MG-001-1(configure)# prompt, type set mgp reset-times primary-search <search-time> where <search-time> is the time in minutes that the G700 searches for a primary controller before looking for an LSP. The range is from 1 to 60. 2. At the MG-001-1(configure)# prompt, type set mgp reset-times total-search <search-time> where <search-time> is the total time in minutes that the G700 searches for both primary controllers or LSPs. The range is from 1 to 60. 3. At the MG-001-1(configure)# prompt, type set mgp reset-times transition-point <#_of_primary> where <#_of_primary> is the number of primary controllers in the controller list. If the primary controller is an S8500 or S8700, the range is from 1 to 4. If the primary controller is an S8300, <#_of_primary> must be 1.

MG-???-1(configure)#reset mgp Remember if the G700 has an MM710 (DS1 board) you must set the clock source in the MGP. ***Add DS1 in PBX first via Site Admin - Add DS1 1V2 (1 = media gtwy 1, V2 = slot V2) MG-???-1(configure)#set sync interf pri vX X equals the slot that the card resides in. MG-???-1(configure)#set sync source pri MG-???-1(configure)#show sync tim Do this so that you can check that the translations took. VoIP NOTE: - The IP address for each gateway is the equivalent to a C-LAN card for call control. - The IP address for each VoIP (in each gateway) is the equivalent to a MedPro card for voice traffic. COMMUNICATION MANAGER CONFIG ADDING MEDIA GATEWAY 1. Make sure youve got the IP Network Region configured for the new gateway. 2. Make sure youve got the LOCATIONS form updated to show the new location youre adding. 3. Add Media Gateway be sure to enable the virtual Announcement card in slot V9 on MG #1 when adding MG 1 A. Add Media 1, Name = SITE-G700-1, IP = 555.555.5.26, Serial = 061XXXXXXXXX, Net Rgn & Loc = X, Activate virtual Announcement card in slot V9! B. Add Media 2, Name = SITE-G700-2, IP = 555.555.5.27, Serial = 061XXXXXXXXX, Net Rgn & Loc = X 4. Change Node-names IP Assign new node name for LSP A. Change Node-names IP, Name = SITE-G700, IP = 555.555.5.30 5. Add survivable processor Use node name previously added (SITE-G700), set proper location and net region (12 in this case).

Misc Media Gateway Commands via Console Port & Notes: Set Ethernet ports to 100 / Full Duplex P330-1(configure)# set port neg 1/1 disable P330-1(configure)# set port neg 1/2 disable P330-1(configure)# set port duplex 1/1 full P330-1(configure)# set port duplex 1/2 full 3

Set system info: P330-1# set system name "Site G700" (follow same format for contact & location as well) Show cards in system (from MG prompt): MG-001-1(super)# show mg list Media Gateway wont register? Try doing the nvram init again and reassigning the IP address info for the gateway. No cards showing up in gateway once its registered to core switch? Try reset media x level 3 from ASA on core switch. X = the media gateway # in question. TTI !!! In order to remove/relocate a gateway, you will probably need to disable TTI and wait for TTI status to be 100% before it will let you remove the gateway because it still thinks there is something assigned to those cards with TTI being active. Also dont forget to disable the MG-Announcement virtual card in V9.
