Youth Outreach
EDAC continues to partner with a youth entrepreneurship organization to hosts a premiere youth-focused entrepreneurship conference that encourages youth to pursue entrepreneurship as a viable career option. It engages youth in the planning, innovation and execution of an entrepreneurial venture, leaving students intellectually charged and ready to propel their creative business ideas. Entrepreneurs Go 2 School (EG2S) is a traveling educational and workforce development tour that features an interactive address by a local entrepreneur. EDAC brings business owners to local schools to share their stories of success and their challenges in pursuing a career in entrepreneurship. Students participate in an interactive program that includes games, prizes, and resources to start their own business. Make It Happen Summer Business Academy, founded by Baltimore's own Kevin Liles, Founder and CEO of KWL Enterprises and one of the most respected executives in the entertainment industry, kicked off its inaugural season in Baltimore. The Make It Happen Foundation was started by Liles and his wife, Erika, to foster an environment for young people to realize their full potential. Students from Baltimore City and County public schools participated in the program. The students were tasked with creating a business plan based on some aspect of the media industry. After writing a business plan, the students presented their idea to a panel of judges. All of the teams received a cash prize.

How did EDAC/MIHF Business Academy help you? The EDAC/MIHF Business Academy helped me mold my vision for my academic and career endeavors. The program showed me how to work with other people (my age) from the idea stage to the formation of a business plan. The EDAC/MIHF Business Academy taught me the importance of building a brand and the importance of maintaining a positive attitude. It also taught me that a lot can be done within a small amount of time and that time management can determine the progress or downfall of a task. Now I use my extra time to get work done rather than wasting it. The summer academy also allowed me to learn how to be comfortable with speaking in front of people. This is a powerful tool that I can use in my life. How can EDAC/MIHF Business Academy help you now or in the future? I am looking to attend Morgan State University in the near future. I would continue participating and volunteering at upcoming EDAC events. Please feel free to share any other information about your academics and career goals. The skills that I learned in the summer business academy has prepared me for any obstacle that I may face in life. I really appreciate the organizers and my mother for brining this opportunity/tool into my life.

Testimonies
Baltimore-Alive.com @Baltimore_Alive Had a GREAT time volunteering with @improveprogress at the 7th Annual Youth Entrepreneurship Conference #youthbizbuilders2012

Nicki Cola @King_COLA There are a lot of women here who have started businesses or have aspirations to start one. Great ideas #WomenNext

I attended the WOMEN NEXT Conference on September 15, 2012 and the E Speakers Society on September 27. I enjoyed both events for inspiring and young entrepreneurs like myself. I won a Business Plan Pro software package for participating at one of the workshops which was really awesome. I look forward to becoming a successful entrepreneur with the assistance from Morgan State University and the Entrepreneurial Development & Assistance Center. Ashley Tate, Freshman at Morgan State University

I would like to applaud EDAC, Omar Muhammad, Kevin Liles and every person that played a part in making the "Make It Happen Foundation's Summer Leadership Academy" a complete success. I learned of the academy late and was extremely interested in having my daughter participate. From day 1, I never had to make Aleeah get up, never had to force out of the house she was completely engaged and ready to get to Morgan. She even said that she is interested in attending Morgan State after high school. Thank you so much for making these opportunities available for our youth and I wish you much success going forward! Adrienne Alexander, parent and Morgan Student

The Kae Monsanto @KaeMonsanto @King_COLA: Never took advantage of EDAC at Morgan while I was a student. Me and my partner @KaeMonsanto will now #womennext no doubt!
