2013 Terms and Conditions
The Hanford Reach Interpretive Center wants to see the REACH through your eyes! We are seeking photo submissions from area high school students involved with photography. Submit your photos that celebrate the Hanford Reach National Monument, the Columbia River and the local, natural environment. The top six photos will be turned into postcards for our Postcards from the REACH project. The project will showcase images depicting different topics and themes in a series of postcards that will be available to the public by donation. The final photographs selected will also be enlarged and put on display on in our office and the completed Hanford Reach Interpretive Center, slated to open in Summer of 2014. The photographers of the chosen six photographs will each be awarded a cash prize! All winners and participants will be invited to our awards reception on Friday, April 19th, 2013 at the Richland Public Library 6pm to 8pm. All photo entries will be on display from Friday, April 19th to Saturday, April 20th during the Expressions of REACH Educational Showcase; a two-day temporary exhibition held at the Richland Public Library featuring exhibits centered on the themes of the Hanford Reach Interpretive Center created by local students. Finalists may also request copies of their published work to include in their portfolios.

Who is Eligible?
Students in high school who are in or have taken photography classes, currently involved with a photography club or other extracurricular photography organization.

Submission Requirements:
All photos must be submitted in a .jpeg format. Entries may be submitted through email* or must be on either a flashdrive or a CD.
* High-quality scans of non-digital photographs are acceptable. Digital photographs should be taken at the highest resolution possible. Photographs must be in a .jpeg. Files submitted may not be larger than 2,048k (2Mb). The finalists will be asked to submit a high-resolution file or an original negative, print or slide. Original negatives, prints, or slides will be returned to finalists in addition to any flashdrives or CDs.

Students are allowed to enter maximum of (3) photos If a student chooses to submit more than one photo, all submissions may be combined onto one flashdrive or CD, provided that each .jpeg file is independently labeled. Each .jpeg file must be labeled with photographers last name and photo title.

Each photograph submitted must have: - Title - Time/Location of when/where picture was taken - The model/type of camera used - Whether or not the image was modified/edited - A three or four sentence statement about how it depicts one of the themes below.
If you have a model or any a person is recognizable in your photograph, you must secure a model

release from the subject or, in the case of a minor, the subjects parent or guardian and provide it to the REACH upon request. A sample release is attached to this packet on page 6 and will be made available on our website, www.visitthereach.org or at our Facebook page.

Winning Photographs Selected for Postcards from the REACH


The top six selected will be turned into postcards. All proceeds will benefit the education and programs of the Hanford Reach Interpretive Center. The selected photographers will be credited1 on their respective photographs and will be given a scholarship cash prize of $50. Terms and Conditions Agreement Form


By entering the contest, entrants grant the Hanford Reach Interpretive Center a royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual, non-exclusive license to display, distribute, reproduce and create derivative works of the entries, in whole or in part, in any media now existing or subsequently developed, for any educational, promotional, publicity, exhibition, archival, scholarly and all other standard REACH purposes. Any photograph reproduced will include a photographer credit as feasible. The Hanford Reach Interpretive Center will not be required to pay any additional consideration or seek any additional approval in connection with such uses. The REACH reserves the right to cancel the contest or modify these rules at its discretion. Decisions of the Hanford Reach Interpretive Center will be final.
