OUR MISSION
The Energy Commercialization Center (ECC) drives emerging sustainable energy ventures to the next stage of validation through the facilitation of an innovation ecosystem in the Rocky Mountain West. The ECC is a regional cleantech collaboration center providing the thought leadership, community engagement, and acceleration resources necessary for the transition to sustainable, carbon free energy economy.

OUR ROLE IN THE GREATER ECOSYSTEM

The Energy Commercialization Center uses the lean start-up methodology of the University of Utahs Foundry entrepreneurial center to accelerate the success or failure of early-stage companies. Through the collaboration of our partner network, the ECC focuses on vetting and derisking business models, engaging key industry stakeholders, and helping to formulate a companys ask - milestones, timeframes and resources and funding needed to reach the next stage of validation.

With a strong inter-disciplinary focus, our organization is in need of mature and ambitious students studying engineering, law, business, marketing, environmental studies, etc. Communication and writing skills are imperative. Specific roles and projects include: Use mind mapping software to capture the Rocky Mountain West cleantech ecosystem to provide a better understanding of the complex interactions between all stakeholders Champion early stage companies to vet and de-risk business models, analyze market opportunities, engage industry stakeholders, and develop a companys ask Maintain a social media presence to build on the momentum of the newly launched website and seek other marketing opportunities to strengthen the ECC brand Work with staff at other regional universities to create lists of professors, expertise, and current research to further integrate research collaboration opportunities Promote our upcoming events, competitions, and educational work groups to grow our ecosystem membership and inspire and invigorate the larger community Interact with industry stakeholders including private industry, investment, and service providers to increase participation in and support of our mentor network Research and identify upcoming local, regional, and national cleantech events, funding opportunities such as competitions and grants, and current industry news and happenings for promotion through our website and social media outlets
