EDITORS DESK It is the start of 2013 and January 2013 sees Ngee Ann welcoming potential students through our Open House 2013 on 5, 7 and 8 Jan 2013 to showcase our Schools and Divisions Diploma programmes for O-Level graduates. The Joint Admissions Exercise will commence soon after on 10 Jan 2013 which will see the campus abuzz with activities and programmes. The Co-op continues to strive to meet the needs of the campus by providing consumer items that are relevant. Student events such as NPs Got Talent 2012 and EduVance were exclusively sponsored by NP Co-op benefitting the campus community. We continue to introduce innovative ideas to the campus. Our retail incubation boxes or CuBiz have helped scores of students establish their retail presence on campus, bringing their blogshops from virtual space to physical space at the front of @5 outlet. Our LED TV display adds a dynamic element to our storefront, giving a fresh new look and communciation channel to students walking along NP Orchard. The Co-op wishes all student and staff members great start to 2013!
Co-ops History The NP Co-op has been set up since 1971. Some of our younger staff and our students were not even born when the Co-op was set up. Digging through the Co-op's annual report 2000-2001 revealed the interesting timeline of key milestones from 1971 -2001: Since then, the Co-op has undergone developments and grown along with Ngee Ann Polytechnic. Knowing a little bit about our history allows us to reflect upon what has gone in the past and allows us to consider what to plan for the future. We will not know what the future will hold but we know that with the support of staff members, student members as well as the Co-op staff, it will be an interesting time going forward. The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new lands but seeing with new eyes. Marcel Proust

CET GRADUATION 2012 In conjunction with the CET Graduation 2012, NP Co-op provided rental services of the graduation gowns from 1 to 3 November at Block 7 Level 1. Many CET graduates were able to experience going through the graduation ceremony just like the full-time Diploma graduates in the official NP gowns. Co-op staffs set-up operations to support the gown rental and return over 3 days. Visual guides were in place to assist the graduates in choosing a suitable gown for themselves. Staffs were able to assist CET graduates with sizing and how to wear the gown for their graduation ceremonies.

New Look, New Beginnings

As of October 2012, NP Co-op has officially launched its new staff uniform. From the previous orange uniform, NP Co-op has changed our uniform to the current red colored ones (Top). Do not be surprised if you were to see staff in red collar T-shirts at our retail shops @5 and @83. Red is an auspicious color and with this, NP Co-op would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year, 2013. NP Co-op will continue to strive to serve our stakeholders better in 2013 and upcoming years.

Afoot and lighthearted I take to the open road, healthy, free, the world before me. Walt Whitman

NP Co-op wishes all graduates a happy graduation ceremony and success in their future endeavors.

UPDATES ON CUBIZ
Since the launch of our incubation business at outlet@5, we have seen many students with an enterprising heart come forth to rent a box for their items. All boxes are rented out as of 1 week of October semester. NP Co-op would like to thank the students for their support and will continue to cater to students needs. Our Smart TV has also been widely recognized as an effective advertising tool. Large crowds during lunch time often stop by to take a look at what our retail incubation-CuBiz, has to offer.

NPs Got Talent 2012

NPs Got Talent is an event held for NP students to showcase their talents. The event was held on 15 November 2012 at Ngee Ann Convention Centre. An International Food Fiesta was also served prior to the event. NP Co-op was the main sponsor for the event which saw contestants went through series of audition before a final 15 soloists/groups were picked to perform on stage. 15 outstanding acts from various schools competed to be the best performer. 70% of the score was by the panel of 3 judges while the audiences votes made-up the remaining 30%. The judging criteria were Poise, Physical Appearance, Stage Presence, Overall Impression and Talent. All 15 acts performed to their very best and everyone enjoyed themselves. The event concluded with a performance by the 2011 winner of NPs Got Talent.
