Unless a session is specifically noted in the orientation schedule as Group 1 or Group 2, it will be held for the entire MBA class at once (Groups 1 and 2 combined). Teams: We will announce MBA team assignments on Wednesday, 8/15. Team assignments will be used for all of the core classes taken in the fall term as well as the $5 Team Challenge and Joder Ranch during orientation. More details about the process of assigning teams and additional guidelines for working within teams will be provided during orientation.

Joder Ranch (Friday, August 17):

Transportation: A chartered bus to take us to and from Joder ranch. Students will not be permitted to drive their personal vehicles to the ranch under any circumstances. You must meet the bus along Regent Dr. adjacent to Koelbel at 7:45 a.m. Busses will depart promptly at 8:00 a.m. We will leave Joder by bus at 1:30 p.m., and return to campus at approximately 2:15 p.m. We will spend the morning and early afternoon in the beautiful foothills outside Boulder doing team-building exercises. Waivers must be completed prior to boarding the bus. There will be a catered lunch at the ranch. A list of what to wear and bring to Joder Ranch is included on the next page.

What to wear/bring to Joder: We will be outdoors, so be prepared for varying weather conditions. Casual attire, comfortable, weather appropriate clothing Sturdy walking shoes (absolutely no sandals or open-toed shoes) Water, snacks (catered lunch will be provided) Cap with a visor and/or sunglasses Sunscreen Other suggested items: backpack, rain poncho/jacket, long sleeve shirt/pants (dress in layers)

Community Outreach (Monday, August 20):

This is an opportunity for MBA students to engage with the local community, and is led by MBA Class of 2013 student, Garrett Adrian. Establishing collaborative and mutually supportive relationships within the city of Boulder is a distinguishing feature of the program. We hope this experience and exposure to connecting with the local community will set the expectation and level of commitment for our students. Dress very comfortably and bring water. We will post information in D2L about service activities, and you must select your volunteer site preference by Thursday, 8/16. You may leave your belongings (laptops, etc.) in a secure room for the afternoon. Transportation: A chartered bus to take us to and from the volunteer sites. You will pick up a box lunch in the MBA office at 12:00 p.m. and eat lunch quickly before we leave or on the bus on the way. We will depart campus at 1:00 p.m. and return at approximately 4:30 p.m.

Excel:
If you are not a regular and confident Excel user, you should attend the Excel - Basics workshops held during the lunch periods on 8/14 and 8/15. An additional Excel - Intermediate session will be held during lunch on 8/16. Bring your laptop. These workshops will be taught using Excel for Windows 2010.

Partners and Children:

Most orientation events are for MBA students only, but we welcome partners and children to attend the following events: Partners Orientation (Thurs., 8/23 4:00 5:00 p.m.): Enrolling in the MBA program is a major commitment and the support from your spouse, partner or significant other can play a critical part in your success in the program. This session will give THEM a snapshot picture of a day in the life of an MBA student and help them understand the type of support they will need to provide. Children are welcome. This session will be led by 2nd year MBA students and their spouses/partners. Partners Orientation is followed by the MBA BBQ. MBA BBQ (Thurs., 8/23 5:00 7:00 p.m.): Non-alcoholic event. Partners and children are welcome.

Parking Map: A parking attendant will be standing at the entrance to Lot 436 (by 9 a.m.) to distribute
parking permits. The main entrance to Koelbel Hall is on the south end of the building (You may also enter from the other sides). There will be signs in the hallway to direct you. Either head south on Regent off of Colorado Ave or head east on Regent off of Broadway to lot 436.
