STIMULUS CARD C 4/5 9 points

This task is one of the compulsory elements of the matrix. You can either choose C4/5 or A5/6 for your speaking assessment this term.

Goal: Create an oral presentation demonstrating your understanding of what incorporates a healthy snack. Audience: Year 6 students. DUE DATE: last week of term 1. For this task you will need: Pre-requisite Lesson required before you start this task on I Movie and Quick Time with Mr Wilson Appropriate research and summarising skills Access to a computer Access to the Internet Overview: As you grow older you will start making your own food choices. There is a huge difference in the nutritional value of food today and it is important for you to understand the choices you make will ultimately affect your overall health and wellbeing. Your task is to research what healthy snacks are available, choose an appropriate snack and create a 30 second advertisement to promote this snack. Use I Movie or Quick Time to present your snack. PRE-REQUISITE LESSON Before you begin your research you need to attend a workshop with Mr Wilson on I Movie and Quick Time. Make sure you have your Matrix Contract and Sign Off Sheet signed before you begin this task.

Step 1 - Research healthy snacks. Look at the links below to familiarise yourself with what are healthy snacks. Many snacks today are marketed as healthy when in actual fact they are not very wise choices for us to eat. Referencing is very important. You will need at least 5 references for this project (3 internet sites and 2 books). Record your source as you go. Here are some resources to help you get started. Look through the research books available in the Workshop Pod area between Eden and Canaan. Step 2 - Plan an oral advertisement of 30 seconds in length. Take notes as you research healthy snacks. Make sure you summarise in your own words. Include the following information: what is the healthy snack, why is it healthy, what ingredients make it healthy, how does the snack help your body, where does the snack come from. For extra points you may want to compare this snack with an unhealthy choice snack and give a comparison of the two.

Step 3 - Prepare your advertisement in written form before you attempt to record it. Show this to your teacher for feedback before recording. It is very important that you are well prepared before you record your information. Think of a creative way to present your advertisemen. Make sure you use illustrations and diagrams in your presentation.

Step 4 Record your presentation. Go through it several times making improvements to your final copy. Submit it digitally for your teacher to assess. At the end of the presentation put a copy of your referencing list at least 3 Internet sites and 2 books. Make sure you follow the correct structure when referencing. Complete the self evaluation rubric and submit it to your teachers in- tray. Submit I Movie or Quick Time presentation (upload) and self-evaluation (to teachers in-tray).
