Nidec Beta V TA350DC M35291-35 92mm x 38mm High Speed PWM Fan 4 wire/5 pin plug Dell P/N

P2780 M35291-35 DEL (4916U, 5321D) Brand New! These are the OEM Factory CPU Fans in several DELL Computer models, commonly in the GREEN fan shroud.Used in most Dell Dimension 8400, OptiPlex GX280, PowerEdge 1420SC, 420SC, Precision Workstation 670 and others. This is the alternative to the stock original fan. The 92mm x 25mm fan works great and replaces the original 92mm x 25mm Nidec Beta V TA350DC fan using the Dell proprietary 3-pin plug connector . It provides an excellent amount of airflow, at low noise levels, and will lower your overall system temperature. This is a single speed fan and not temperature controlled. There is a possibility you may encounter an error message "fan not detected" upon bootup. This does not affect functionality which can be cleared manually and allow normal operation to continue. Not all Dells will do this, but some will. However, if the computer you are using has remote access, then this fan will not be suitable for your application. Some users of these alternate fans have resorted to turning off the fan warning detection to bypass the error message on bootup. We do not advocate or endorse these methods. We are simply reporting what others have done to resolve this issue. Most of the time, you can turn OFF the fan detector to avoid warnings. The settings are located in Power Management section of BIOS. Use the following settings: Low Power Mode=OFF and Suspend Mode=S1. Some users have had success setting their "halt on" settings to "no errors". This is a quality and low cost alternative to the original one costing well over $50.00, and usually is refurbished. There you have it, a great replacement and low cost alternative to your stock CPU Case Fan. 92mm Fan with Dell 3-pin Replacement for Nidec Beta V TA350DC is in stock and ready to ship. PWM Fan Pinouts - Industry Standard & Dell configurations

Just thought this might be useful for anyone interested or needing info. I am in the process of doing a fan mod for my desktop to help reduce the noise level. As any Dell owner should know, all Dell systems use a proprietary 5-pin connector for PWM fans along with a non-standard layout of the 4 wires used in PWM fans. Since I have already have the info I figured it would be nice to share using diagrams I made. Sorry if they seem large.

I also drew up a diagram for a PWM fan splitter. This is great for using two fans on a radiator in a Push-Pull setup. (Diagram for Standard PWM connectors)

Edit: The 5-pin connector Dell uses is available form suppliers like Digi-Key (Link) and Jameco Electronics (Link). Note that the pins for the connector are sold separately. The INTEL 5000x chipset is why.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------690 Yes, I am aware of the solutions you can use in order to get an incompatible motherboard working with a quad core, but at the end of the day they are only temporary. I don't have full data on what is different in terms of functionality between the different revisions of the x5000, but I think it is fair to assume that Dell hasn't put the restriction in place for fun. For those of you that don't know, you can get a both a DT029 and F9394 motherboard 'working' with quad-core CPUs. For F9394 motherboards: Any BIOS revision can be used, when you get the "incompatible processor detected!" message unplug the machine from the mains and remove the clock battery. Wait for at least 30 seconds before re-inserting the battery and then restore the power. The machine will operate normally up until the point where it is unplugged from the mains, at which point you will have to repeat the procedure. For DT029 motherboards: The same as above except you must be running BIOS revision A01 (A02 is a possibility but untested) or lower. If you only have a quad-core chip you will need to find a dual-core CPU to downgrade the machine with, the battery removal trick will not work if you have upgraded the BIOS past A02. Having said all the above, I have not tested every permutation, and am eager to hear your results.
