Short diagnostic test on pronunciation. Input on the English Sound System with emphasis on special features of English pronunciation such as long/short vowels, final consonants, consonant clusters, diphthongs and triphthongs. Practise pronouncing words correctly. (1 hour)

Short exercises on transcription: Change phonetic symbols to orthographic form and vice-versa. Use a dictionary to check your pronunciation. Input on identifying and analyzing long and short vowels, and consonants. Identify and analyze the use of long and short vowels, and consonants. (1 hour)

Individually, rewrite the phonetic transcription of a given paragraph in orthographic form. Select or record a listening text (from various media) and listen critically to the long/short vowels, consonants, diphthongs and triphthongs pronounced in the text. (1 hour)
