The ABC Model is one of the most famous cognitive behavioural therapy techniquesfor analysing your thoughts, behaviour and emotions.
A - Activitating Event (also sometimes described as a 'Trigger') B - Beliefs (for example, the thoughts that occur to you when the Activating Event happens) C - Consequences - how you feel and behave when you have those Beliefs (consequences may be divided into two parts: your actions and your emotions)
Set out as a table, the ABC Model might look like this: A - Activating Event Write down the event or situation that triggered your thoughts and feelings. B - Beliefs C - Consequences

You can find a further example of a balancing statement in my Balancing Statements Form. One technique that you can use to help you reach a balanced view is to ask yourself what a neutral person or a trusted reliable friend might say or think in the same circumstances.
Try to explain to your boss the difficulties that you are having with the work and seek support, or If for some reason that is not possible or practicable then you might decide to try to speak to someone else appropriate within the organisation to help deal with the issue, or If you feel that neither of those is a realistic option then you might explore avenues outside the organisation where you can gain personal support or wind down from work pressures, Or you might even consider whether to try to change jobs or roles if your genuine conclusion is that for whatever reason this particular role is not something that you want to stay in in the medium term.

Conform teoriei i modelului ABC, care stau la baza REBT, fiind pui n diverse situaii de via oamenii se vor confrunta cu diferite evenimente indezirabile (A), evenimente fa de care vor avea cogniii raionale i iraionale (B). Aceste cogniii fa de evenimentul respectiv vor determina rspunsuri sau consecine din partea persoanei la nivel emoional, comportamental i cognitiv (C), cogniiile raionale fiind responsabile de consecinele adaptative pe cnd cogniiile iraionale vor genera rspunsuri, consecine dezadaptative. Mai mult, aceste consecine odat generate vor deveni la rndul lor evenimente activatoare (A) ducnd la producerea unor consecine secundare prin intermediul cogniiilor raionale i iraionale secundare, clienii fiind ncurajai n disputarea acestor cogniii (D) i nlocuirea lor cu altele funcionale, adaptative (E) (David et al., 2010). Acest model a fost extins (David, 2003) incluznd prelucrarea incontient de informaie. Astfel, dei cogniiile nu sunt accesibile uneori n mod contient ele sunt reprezentate n sistemul de memorie implicit mai degrab dect n sistemul de memorie explicit, considerndu-se emoiile ca fiind post cognitive, implicnd mecanisme cognitive i computaionale fie la nivel contient fie incontient (David et al., 2010). Astfel, pornind de la cele de mai sus, REBT se distinge fa de celelalte teorii explicative n ceea ce privete generarea emoiilor introducnd diferena calitativ ntre acestea, cogniiile raionale fiind n strns legtur cu emoiile adaptative, funcionale pe cnd cogniiile Coaching Cognitiv Comportamental: elaborarea i testarea unui program de intervenie teoretico aplicativ n mediul organizaional Pagin 6 iraionale sunt n strns legtur cu cogniiile dezadaptative sau disfuncionale, diferena dintre aceste nefiind una cantitativ, funcionalitatea lor depinznd n mare msur de experiena subiectiv, cogniii i consecine. Literatura de specialitate este din ce n ce mai bogat n studii care pun n eviden relaia puternic dintre distres i cogniii iraionale n mediul organizaional, care la rndul lor au dus la o cretere a interesului pentru dezvoltarea
unor programe bazate pe principiile acestei abordri teoretice (DiLorenzo et al., 2002; Grant, 2001; Sporrle, 2006). Cu toate acestea, analiza literaturii de specialitate relev lipsa unor programe de intervenie orientate ctre modificarea cogniiilor iraionale ca mecanism de control al distresului emoional n mediul organizaional. Mai mult dei studiile de specialitate pun n eviden legturi semnificative ntre distres emoional, burnout, satisfacia profesional, acestea sunt puin investigate din perspectiva relaiei cu cogniiile iraionale care conform REBT moduleaz rspunsul comportamental i emoional al individului. Cercetarea de fa vine n ntmpinarea acestor necesiti prin stabilirea unor obiective care s rspund unor ntrebri vis a vis de relaia rolul cogniiilor iraionale n modularea rspunsului la distresul emoional n mediul organizaional, ct i clarificarea relaiei dintre acestea i concepte intens studiate din punct de vedere al psihologiei organizaionale, cu impact puternic asupra competitivitii organizaiei i a sntii organizaionale n general.
