Roof top basics

Roofs can be differentiated by the inclination: Flat roofs: Slightly pitched roofs: Pitched roofs: Highly pitched roofs: Inclination < ca. 5 (Sometimes up to 10) Inclination 5 to 22 Inclination 22 to 45 Inclination > 45

Loads- Important for Stress calculation

Drainage system, calculation should be referred to the century rain*

Load increase!!!

Additional Snow load (if required!)

Already existing objects on, or under the roof are they included in the stress load calculation ???

Already existing objects on the roof are they included in the stress load calculation ???

Loads- Stress Calculation

Stress calculation is one of the most important parts in a roof top system Additional weight has to be load on the roof, if a fixing of the structure is not possible, On flat roofs the additional load can range from 17 kg/m to 80 kg/m On slope roof additional 12.68 kg/m (Solarworld Sunmodule SW poly) weight + mounting structure (1.5 to 3.5 kg/m)

Loads- Stress Calculation

Wind load

pressure

suction

Force acting on the Module area: - Lift up forces - Break over forces - Slide forces Force acting on the roof: - Compressive force (total of wind load ,module and mounting structure load

Solar systems on exposed locations need special attention!!!

Loads- Stress Calculation

Wind loads Wind loads need to be considered when planning and designing PV Systems and Structures Two types of forces that can act of structures and modules:
Suction Load (Due to wind) Pressure load (Due to Snow)

Suction Load

Pressure load

Need to ensure these values are not exceeded at the location of installation Information to take into account: Wind Speeds in the region Installation height above ground level Geography around installation Site (Urban Area, Open space, Agricultural land, Sea side etc.)

Shade reduces the energy generation

Shading Analyses, shading shets

Location: Freiburg, southern Germany (48 N)

We want that no shading occurs on noon at the 21st of December

What angle does the sun have with the horizon on the 21st of December? (23.5)

Height

90- longitude-declination= sun angle

90 - 48 - 23.5 = 18.5 What is the minimum distance x to guarantee that there is no shading on noon?

l = 1.67m
=25 x

18.5

X = l * (cos + sin / tan 18.5) In general it is always a compromise: Optimizing! Suntool use optimize factors

SolarWorld mounting systems

Sunfix plus

Individual adoption to the roof construction and stat static requirements

Ideal and safe use of the installing area Pre-assembled components guarantee a fast installation Static calculations within the Sunkit by SolarWorld allows planning reliability

Example for the installation of Sunfix plus

General Innovations

Less connection points

Pre-assembled parts

Assembly-aid for fixation of screws

Lower system weight Side-connection of roof hooks

General Information Roof Hooks

Roof hooks are offered for all common tile roofs Hooks for battens with 24 and 30 mm height are available Every roof hook (except Universal) is available in two editions, 0 and 90, so profiles can be mounted vertical and horizontal Selection of the suitable roof hook is calculated by the SolarWorld Team Part dimensioning results from the static demands of the location (Optimal roof hooks and profiles will be chosen)

Roof Hooks General Changes

Corrugation increases the footing Elongated holes in every roof hook

Simple adjustment of height

Roof Hook Universal: increased adjustability due to larger elongated hole

Flanges - Overview

Double-flange

Delivered in parts Version M10/M12 and M12 long (Sandwich roofs)

Single-flange
Version M10/M12

Application on fibre-cement corrugated sheet roofs, trapezodial sheet, sandwich roof and various roofs for a universal installation.

Further mounting solutions

Special clamps for specialized roof types:

Kalzip roofing Zambelli Ribroof roofing Standing seam roofing

Aluminium Profile Types

Fix Plus 5

Fix Plus 4

Fix Plus 3

Fix Plus 2

Fix Plus 1

Fix Plus T

- Larger profiles used for longer clamping distance and high load withstand ability - Fix Plus T can be used for roof sheets which can be riveted (Thickness <0.63mm)

Trapezodial sheets mounting solution

Profile Connector

Fitting to each aluminium supporting profile Insertion into the hollow chamber of the aluminium profile No additional bolts necessary! Adjustment of linear extension by a spacer

Increase of the load capacity due to a second connector (Profiles Fix Plus 1 and 2)

Profile clamp

Module fastening

M8-Screw with Torx-drive (T40)

Press fitted and free-turning clamping washer Additional benefit: Grounding between module frame and mounting system Spacer Edge will be assembled afterwards

Slot nut with assembly aid: Pre-assembly and assembly aid allow a fast and safe mounting of solar modules

Summary

Forceful further development in consideration of Market requirements User feedback Mounting effort is significantly reduced through Optimized parts Pre-assembled units Less parts in direct comparison to the preceding product Optimal adjustment to the location Integrated grounding in the module fastening set

Application details
Roof connection possible trough ballastation or screws:

Similar parts used as in the rooftop system - Hanger bolts - Rivets - Double-flange etc. Comparison of ballastation : Ballastation 6 module 223 - 349 Kg Depends on the building site: (Wind load, snow load, height above MSL, roof pitch, building height) .

Sunfix-Freifeld Montagesystem

Profiles made of aluminum. Screw connections made of stainless steel V2A. Foundation via Earth screws Concrete foundation Module tilt angle adjustable between 20 and 40. Ground pitch compensation in X-axis up to +/- 10 Module rows van be adjusted by +/-6.

Sunfix Freefield

The mounting system allows ground pitch compensation in the range of +/-10 in X/Z plane and +/- 6 in Y/Z plane.

The tilt angle of the modules can be adjusted to the local optimums for the site in the range of 20 to 40using telescopic legs.
