Teaching Like Jesus Seminar and JESUS Film Campaign January 25TH - 30TH
We thank God the way He is using ICM Mt. Elgon to reach the Sabaot community in Mt. Elgon Kenya. Last year April, we started showing Sabaot Jesus film and CLI seminars across Mt. Elgon. That first stage in mission was very successful that we saw many people giving their lives to Christ and church leaders being challenged to serve God faithfully. August was also the same. We were very humbled to see how people were thirsty for the Word of God and giving their lives to Christ. In December 2013, we had another mission trip from the 25th to the 30th. The mission had a number of challenges including heavy rains, failure of equipment that we were using and our vehicle having mechanical problems and flat tires. Nevertheless, God was faithful to us that we were able to reach four village centers. On the 25th we were at Kongit (Kaptama Division). To the left is a photo of ICM Mt. Elgon staff member Justus Kirui conducting a session in a Kenya Assemblies of God church. From Kongit, we traveled to Kaberwa in the Kapsokwony Division. After the Teaching Like Jesus seminar in the day time, the people pleaded with us that they just want to hear the gospel in Sabaot. We didnt get a projector for a film showing, and the twenty four inch TV that we had carried, also failed us. We ended up using our laptop computer to show the video. We amplified the sounds and the entire crowd that had come was able to hear the message. Bellow is a crowed hearing and watching the film at Kaberwa market, we called an alter call and as you can see, those that have made decision to follow Christ have raised their hands for prayer. From Kaberwa we went to Chemwoikut in the Cheptais Division. Like other places, we had seminar in the day and the film in the afternoon. The picture at the right is of some of the church leaders that had attended the teachings. Here too we used our laptop and external speakers. Below are people raising their hands for prayer to receive Christ as their Savior.

We conducted the Teach Like Jesus seminars at all the locations we showed the JESUS Film. The seminar consists of presentations on how to develop and deliver teachings and sermons using traditional learning techniques followed by group discussion. To the right is a photo of Pastor Steven Bushendich at the Kongit KAG church narrating the story about Jesus calming the storm. In the group work, the participants answered questions like, (i) (ii) (iii) (iv) What was the primary method of passing on values, traditions and behavior to you from your elders? What is the main way your children learn values and behavioral expectations? They identified the differences between the above ways of learning and the one they liked most. They also discussed ways that God used to teach His people in the Bible. And how Jesus taught his disciples.

Our last seminar was at Chepkurkur in the Kopsiro division. We started on 28th and ended on 30th, a Sunday. Below are the participants in one of the sessions at Chepkurkur. As I had earlier on said that we had challenges, but at the end of the mission we saw the hand of God had been with us. Right now we have many invitations from many churches. This ministry has really helped us as an institution to make the people know what ICM and ATS are doing in Mt. Elgon. We are trusting God that we continue this year also. Our goal is to see that all Sabaots have heard the gospel in their language and be made disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ. We envision that the Sabaot church will be part of ICM/ATS vision of seeing a mature African church leading the global church in fulfiling the great commission in the 21st century. As the body of Jesus Christ in Mt. Elgon,we have every reason to celebrate. The people that we see coming to the Lord thruogh this film and the seminars are indeed a testimony that the Lord loves the Sabaots and He will use them to accomplish great things in this last days.
