IT Desktop/Laptop Undergraduate Intern


SALARY: LOCATION: JOB TYPE: SHIFT: DEPARTMENT: BARGAINING UNIT: CLOSING DATE POSITION DESCRIPTION: Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) Information Technology Division is seeking undergraduate student interns to work with experienced IT professionals. This internship will involve teaming with IT professionals to replace Windows XP with Windows 7 on approximately 1400 desktop and laptop computers. The intern/s will report to a lead within the User Support Services team. Learning objectives for this internship opportunity include: Gain experience in attention to detail in a computer environment Learn how Operating Systems and Applications are deployed in a network environment through practical experience Learn and apply technical support skills Gain customer service skills while performing a replacement project $14.38 - $14.38 Hourly Seattle Municipal Tower, 700 5th Ave., Seattle, Washington College Intern Day Seattle Public Utilities Not represented 02/05/13 04:00 PM Pacific Time

This internship opportunity is currently open to vocational/technical students, community college students, or students pursuing a bachelor's degree in Information Technology, business or related areas of study. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Under direct supervision, this intern will: Collect and return laptops and computers requiring updates Backup data from old computers and restore the data onto new computers Image and load applications onto the new computers Prepare documentation of updates, repairs, etc.

Assist end users, ensuring everything is working to their satisfaction

QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Applicant must be currently enrolled full-time in a Technical/Vocational Institution, Community College or College/University Applicant must be pursuing a certificate or degree in Information Technology, business, or related area of study

Student must be enrolled at the time of application and for the duration of the internship for a minimum of 12 credit hours, or the school's full-time equivalent if different. Exception: The student does not need to be enrolled over the summer, but will need to show proof they are a continuing student and pre-registered for the fall quarter. Must maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA. Verification of enrollment is required at time of application.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Desired Qualifications: Professional manner in communicating with customers Knowledge of Microsoft SCCM and Active Directory A+ certification

Hours: During the school year, hours may be scheduled to complement class schedules (15-18 hours per week). The position may permit up to 40 hours per week during breaks and summer months. Work is normally performed between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 P:M.
