ABSTRACT

The primary focus of the study was to determine the factors that affect the academic performance of BSN Level II students. Specifically, this study aimed to answer the following questions: (1) What is the academic performance of the respondents? (2) What are the factors affecting the academic performance of the respondents in terms of physiological factor, psychological factor, social factors and economic factor? (3) What is the most common factor affecting the academic performance when physiological, psychological, social and economic factors are considered. The researchers gathered the Pre-mid and Mid-term grades from their respective Clinical Instructors, particularly in their major subjects. The descriptive method of research was used in this study. The researchers utilized purposive sampling as their basis for their selection of their respondent. The Pre-mid grades were compared to the Mid-term grades if there was a difference. Based on the academic performance of the students, there were 21 respondents out of 38, gave the consent to view their grades. It was found out that there was a decrease in the students mid-term grades compared to their Pre-mid grades in the major subjects. The study utilized frequency and percentage and weighted mean to answer the problems posted. The results revealed that physiologic and psychologic factors were the common factors affecting their academic performance.
