Tasks: 1. Explore all of the following Web 2.0 tools and decide on one application to create yourself a website that will be used to chronicle your learning journey in Hwa Chong. Exercise your explorative and analytical skills to decide. Each site has its strengths (i.e. nice template/layout, more customizable) and weaknesses (i.e. too ad-centric, rigid layout, limited functions).

2. Most of the above sites come with learning videos or descriptions on how to create an account/site with them. They are quite self explanatory. Basically when you sign up an account with them, they will ask for your valid email address, birthday, gender etc. If you need further guidance, you may google more tutorials online or find appropriate youtube videos that show you how to create an account with any of the introduced sites. This selfexploration approach is vital learning process. If further helps is needed, please approach teacher directly in lab or after school.

3. Once account is created, you can start create a website with them. Try to name/title your website domain with your name and purpose for examples yourname-ilovehci or yourname_myhci or simply yourname2011 or equivalent as long as the website URL identifies your identity and usage. Sample website URLs are something like i.e. http://davidtan-ilovehci.blogspot.com (if created with blogger) or http://ahmeng-hciblog.wordpress.com (if created with wordpress) or http://chentianwen-hci.wikispaces.com (if created with wikispaces) or http://nickolas2011_myhci.wetpaint.com (if created with wetpaint) or https://sites.google.com/site/lijiaweilifeinhci/ (if created with google sites)

4. Once you have created the site, on the home page, enter a short welcoming message, a short introduction of yourself that perhaps include the experience you have with infocomm technology (IT), or your expectations in Hwa Chong or your personal interests. (Please exercise vigilance to not disclose too sensitive private information about yourself such as mobile no. or home address. Revealing your facebook account and email address should be safe.)

5. Add a photo of yourself (if possible or if you are bothered revealing your face online, add an ambiguous photo of yourself or add a picture that associated / affiliated with you (i.e. your pet) or a group photo) in your home page.

6. Create/add another page in addition to the home page. This other page will reflect your learning on Infocomm Studies, starting with the first blog post topic on Internet and the World Wide Web. In here, (i) attach the collaborative group presentation file (done in the previous lesson) and summarize the findings of your research topics. (ii) After you have read the 57-slides reading material on IVLEs Web & New Media course, blog about 10 major learning points onto this page as well. Insert images and youtube videos relevant to the subjects learning points if possible. (iii) In another blog post, blog some major learning points on the second topic Web 2.0. Subsequent lessons blog postings will be added accordingly. See rubric below.

7. Decorate all your pages with appropriate visuals, images, or other media (music, game, etc.). Some of the Web 2.0 applications allow you to change template or blog skin, please feel free to explore as you deem fit to make it attractive to you and viewers.

8. Once done, return to IVLE (Assignment for Web 2.0 Site Creation & Blog Postings) and submit your URL and give the reason(s) on why you have chosen the platform (i.e google site, wikispace, blogger, wetpaint, wordpress) to build your blog site and a short description / reflection about this submission in the IVLE Text Response Box. Submission is DUE by the deadline Week 4 or 5, Term 1 or otherwise stated.
