1.0 INTRODUCTION

For a football player to play for a professional football team in Zimbabwe team, his registration must be owned by that club, therefore meaning that the club has the ownership right over that players services. Player registrations can be bought and sold and also loaned between clubs. Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) is the Zimbabwes football ruling body which oversees how soccer is being played in Zimbabwe. In the past years the problem of player ownership and registration has been manifest in the local football. This has brought with it double registration of players. This problem has left ZIFA Central Soccer League hit by controversy amid reports that former Hardbody striker, signed two contracts with FC Strikers and leaders Tripple B. (The Herald, 2 August 2012). In addressing the problem, I am to implement a Zifa player online registration system which will reduce the problem faced by ZIFA.

1.1 RESEARCH PROBLEM

Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) is the Zimbabwes football ruling body which oversees how soccer is being played in Zimbabwe. In the past years the problem of player ownership and registration has been manifest in the local football. This has brought with it double registration of players. This problem has left ZIFA Central Soccer League hit by controversy amid reports that former Hardbody striker, signed two contracts with FC Strikers and leaders Tripple B.Another player is accused of having signed for Eastern Region side AMC before joining Harare City without terminating his earlier deal. Also some club owners have been falling to honour player contracts and this has been causing problems in player transfers from one team to the other. There is also a problem on dissemination of information for accessibility to various parts of the country and region at large on match fixtures and results, log standings with games changed venues and when they a supposed to played, mainly ZIFA wait announce through newspapers other than through the system with all teams access easily and faster.

2.

JUSTIFICATION

The system will help in detecting irregular player registrations and transfers as all Zifa affiliates from provinces, regions and the Premiership will be required to enter their players

data into the football mother body system. Many countries worldwide are using the Transfer Matching System to monitor player movements as well as registration. The licences for all affiliates, that is PSL, the four regions for Division One Soccer League, Division Two down to junior football, will be produced by Zifa and this will be done to address the problem of irregular transfers. The system will also verify that players are playing for the team they are registered to and this will be done at the game venue. Mostly players who are not popular are the once who tend to play for the teams they are not registered to, so it will not be possible with the system in operation. In addition unregistered players will also not be able to play until they are registered .The system will produce a report on the age groups and this will help national team coaches to select the correct players as far as age is concerned. Cases like the one involving Hardbody and Tripple B embroiled in a bitter promotional battle would be history as all the player details will be captured accurately. Match fixtures, results, log standings and home grounds for every team will be captured in the system. The changes in matches will also be captured in the system.

3.

OBJECTIVES To design an online registration of players Report on match fixtures, results and log standings To eliminate double registration players To enable smooth transfer of players from one team to the another To ensure that unregistered players will not play until they are registered To display home ground for all registered teams and venue for every game to be played

4.

HYPOTHESES/RESEARCH QUESTIONS

The business ZIFA registration system will be developed using Visual Basic.Net as the programming language. VB.Net will be used to allow online transactions. Since there would be a database the MySQL database will be used as it has the capacity to handle a lot of requests concurrently. Its ability to handle a number of requests made us chose this database.
