GENERAL ENGLISH CLASSES - 15 Hours per Week General English Classes take place from Monday to Friday in the mornings from 9-12.15am and in the afternoons from 3-6.15pm at the following levels: Beginners, Elementary, Lower-Intermediate, Intermediate, Upper-Intermediate, First Certificate, Advanced and Proficiency. (subject to availability) All lessons develop and extend knowledge of grammar and vocabulary and improve communicative skills. Students are also encouraged to make use of the schools self-access facilities. The maximum class size is 15. SPECIAL OPTIONS: Skills in English 7.5 hours per week; Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri 1.00-2.30 Skills in English groups are designed to develop students abilities across the four skills of English: speaking, listening, reading and writing. The lessons will be based on a course book chosen for the variety of subjects and different types of practice it contains. Although this class will focus on all four skills, there will be a strong emphasis on spoken communication. Maximum group size 15.

Individual Lessons by arrangement.

IELTS Preparation Courses 15 hours per week; Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri: 3.00 6.15pm Course Dates for 2013: 7th January 28th March
3rd April 21st June 16th September 6th December

Although it is recommended that students begin their studies at the start of the course, enrolment takes place every Monday. The IELTS test is an internationally recognised qualification for students applying to study in higher education institutions on undergraduate and post-graduate courses. It is a good all-round study-skills option, which also serves as pre-sessional training for overseas students. Test results are shown as bands with scores of 0 to 9 in each skill and an overall band which is an average of the four scores. Most academic courses require an overall band of between 6 and 7 but we recommend you check the entry requirements of your chosen university in advance of your enrolment so we can better advise you of your course options. Courses to prepare for the IELTS test run throughout the year. Courses provide training in exam skills and techniques along with the opportunity to work through sample papers under test conditions. Students are also encouraged to use the Schools self-access materials for further practice. Many students prefer to combine the IELTS training with General English classes to improve overall competence. When you are ready to take the exam, we will be happy to advise you about the best local testing centre and when you should apply to secure your preferred date. Subject to availability. Minimum class size is 6.

SOCIAL ACTIVITIES Edwards Language School is a small, friendly school where the relaxed atmosphere helps students to develop their language skills. Each term there is a programme of visits to places and events of interest in and around London. Recent events have included trips to Cambridge, Oxford, Bath, Windsor, Greenwich and Docklands, Hampton Court and Kew Gardens. We have also arranged meals out together, visits to the Houses of Parliament, theatre and cinema visits and many other activities to match students' interests. All social programme events are optional and the costs are not included in the fees for English Classes.
