Imm Ab al-`Abbs Ahmad ibn Ma`add al-Uqlsh 2 Translated by Arfan Shah (Revised 2012)
Released by www.marifah.net 1428 H (Revised 1433 H)

Translators Note
This was originally released by Marifah.net and at the time we limited the work to the hadith. We always felt that the work was incomplete so to that endeavour we have added all the compliers notes, all the reports and the Arabic text. This is now the complete version of this text. So we hope that Muslims can benefit for this wonderful collection of hadith and all praise is due to the Creator of the universe and may endless blessings be upon his final Messenger (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him).

Ab Dawd in his Sunnan reports that Uwais ibn Uwais (may Allh be pleased with him) who narrated that the Messenger of Allh (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him) said,
Anwr Al-thr Al-Mukhtassa bi-Fadl Al-Salt `al Al-Nab Al-Mukhtr Salla Allhu `alayh walih wa-Sahbih wa-Sallam (ed. Husayn Muhammad `Al Shukri Madna, 1996). 2 Al-Hfiz, Imm Ahmed ibn Mud ibn `Is ibn Wakl Al-Tajb Al-Andals known as Abu l`Abbs Al-Uqlsh was born in Daniat. His father was originally from Uqlish. He studied the Arabic language with Ab Muhammad Al-Batilims and Hadith with Abu l-Hasan ibn Sibtha AlDn. He authored several works too numerous to list here. The Imm passed away in Mecca in the year 550H. Imam Sakhw narrates in his book, Innovative Speech on Invoking Blessings Upon the Beloved Intercessor (Al-Ql Al-Bayi'a f Salt Al Al-Habb Al-Shafa) page 360 that, Abu l-`Abbs Al-Uqlsh was seen in a dream as if he was being scented in heaven. He was asked, How did you achieve this position? He replied, Through excessive supplications upon the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allh be upon him) in the book, Forty concise narrations upon him (peace and blessings be upon him). This is the book that you are reading.

The most superior of your days is Friday3, it is the day dam was created, the seizing will occur, the trumpet will be blown and the souls will be clutched. So increase your invocations upon me, for they are shown to me. They asked, How are our invocations shown to you, when you have disintegrated? He said, Allh Most high has prohibited the bodies of the Prophets from being consumed by the earth.4
So increase your prayers upon your Prophet (may Allh bestow peace and blessings upon him) on this great day than any other. As it has been specified by blessing and goodness and youll be the first of the people on the day of judgement and the closest to him in the everlasting abodes.

In the Musnad of Al-Bazzr, Abdullh ibn Masd (may Allh be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him) said,

The nearest to me on the Day of Judgement are those who invoke the most blessings upon me in the world.5
Whenever you pray upon your Prophet (may Allh bestow peace and blessings upon him) make it excessive, as it is a means to success and serves as a connection. For every innovation you have ten prayers upon you from Al-Jabbar (Allh) of the earth and the heavens, as well as ten sins are erased, ten degrees you are raised and the prayer of the honourable angels is upon you for this rank.

Jumuah.

Sunnan Ab Dawd 1/635 (1048), Al-Nisa 1/519 (1/1666), Ibn Hibbn 3/190 (910) and AlHkim who says its authenticity meets the criteria of Al-Bukhr. 5 At-Tirmidh 2/354 (474) and Ibn Hibbn 3/192 (911) has a variant.

Muslim in his authentic collection reports that Ab Hurayrah (may Allh be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (may Allh bestow peace and blessings upon him) said,

He who invokes blessings on me once, Allh sends ten blessings upon him.

Al-Bazzr reports in his Musnad that `Umayr ibn Al-Ansar was cheerful when he heard the Prophet (may Allh bestow peace and blessings upon him) say,

Whoever of my nation invokes blessings upon me, sincerely from his heart, Allh sends ten blessings upon him. 6

Ibn Sakhir narrated in his Fawaidu from `Abdullh ibn `Amr ibn Rabiah from his father that the Prophet (may Allh bestow peace and blessings upon him) said,

There is no Muslim who invokes blessings upon me except that the Angels send blessings upon him equal to that which he invoked; so invoke some, or increase upon that. 7

Ibn Abu Shayba in Musnad reports that Anas Ibn Malik (may Allh be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (may Allh bestow peace and blessings upon him) said,
6 7

Al-Tabarn Al-Kabr 4/46 and Al-Nis 6/21 (9892). Ibn Mjah 1/294 (908).

Whoever invokes blessings upon me once, Allh conveys ten blessings upon him and erases ten sins.8

Al-Nis reports that Anas Ibn Mlik (may Allh be pleased with him) said that the Prophet (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him) said,

Whoever invokes upon me blessings, once, Allh will convey ten blessings upon him, absolves him of ten sins and raises him ten degrees.9

Ibn Abu Shayba reports in Musnad that Ab Burda Ibn Niyr narrated that the Prophet (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him) said,

There is no servant of my nation who sincerely invokes blessings upon me, except that Allh blesses him ten fold, ten good deeds are written for him, he is raised ten degrees and ten sins are wiped clean from his record.10

Imm Ahmad 3/102 (11587) and Al-Hkim 1/550 (2018) who says its chain is authentic and Al-Dhahab agreed. 9 Ibn Hibbn 3/185 (903). 10 Al-Tabarn in Al-Kabr 22/195 (513) and Al-Nis in Al-Sunnan Al-Kubr 21/6(9892).

Ibn Abu Shayba reports in his Al-Musnad from Anas ibn Malik (may Allh be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allh (may Allh bestow peace and blessings upon him) left prominently and none of the men were able to follow him. Umar (may Allh be pleased with him) sprang forward with clay pot for purification and found Him by a watering hole prostrating so retreated, sat down and waiting until the Messenger of Allh (may Allh bestow peace and blessings upon him) raised his head and said,

. : You have done well O Umar when you found me prostrating and retreated slightly, Jibril (upon him peace) came and said, Whoever invokes blessings upon you once Allh blesses and raises his rank tenfold.11

Abdul-Razzk reports in his Musnaf that Anas relates that Ab Talhh (may Allh be pleased with them) said, I came to the Prophet (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him) one day and found him joyous, so I said, O Messenger of God, I never thought that I would see you so happy and in high spirits.

Why wouldnt I be, Jibrl has just left me with the glad tidings that

each and every slave who invokes blessings upon me, ten good deeds are written for him, ten sins are omitted from his record and he is raised ten degrees. Their invocations are shown to me as they are said and I respond similarly to their invocation.

11

Majma Az-Zawaid 10/160 and Al-Tabarani in Al-Saghir 2/89.

Ibn Abu Shayba reports in his Musnad that Abdurrahman ibn Awf (may Allh be pleased with him) said, The Messenger of Allh (may Allh bestow peace and blessings upon him) did not leave us without four or five of the companions of the Prophet (may Allh bestow peace and blessings upon him) he would assign for his needs during the days and nights. He went out and we followed him when he arrived to the wall of wool makers and prostrated for a long time. I cried and said, I see that Allh has taken the soul of the Messenger of Allh (may Allh bestow peace and blessings upon him). He raised his head up and asked,

Whats wrong? I said, O Messenger of Allh you prolonged your prostration and I said that Allh has seized the soul of his Messenger. I did not see it. He (may Allh bestow peace and blessings upon him) said,

It was a prostration on gratitude to my Lord for the precious gift for my nation. Whoever of my nation invokes blessings once has it recorded as ten good actions and ten sins are erased.12

Al-Zhir narrates from Anas that Ab Talh (may Allh show them mercy) said that Jibril (upon him peace) informed the Prophet (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him) that,

Whoever supplicates for you, Allh returns the like thereof and it will be displayed to him on the Day of Judgement.13
If you invoke peace (salam) upon your Prophet (may Allh bestow peace and blessings upon him) then add blessings (salawat) as Allh has angels who convey your greetings to him. So he returns your greeting which you did in a loftier and greater manner. Your Lord sends blessings tenfold upon you for every greeting.

In his Musnaf 2/512.

Al-Tabarn Al-Saghr 5/101 (4721).

Al-Nis reports from Abdullh Ibn Masd (may Allh be pleased with him) that the Prophet (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him) said,

Allh mighty and majestic has angels who roam the earth and convey to me your greetings.14

Al-Nis reports that Ab Talha said that: The Prophet (may Allah bestow peace and blessings be upon him) came one day with a cheerful appearance, so we said, We can really see joy in your face. He replied,

Truly, an angel came to me and said, O Muhammad, your Lord, Mighty and Majestic said, Are you not satisfied that anyone who invokes blessings upon you except that I convey ten supplications upon him. No one greets you, except he is greeted tenfold.15

Ibn Abu Shayba reports in Musnad that `Al (may Allh be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him) said,

14 15

Sahh Ibn Hibbn 195:914, Al-Hkim 2/421 (3586) and agreed by Al-Dhahab. Al-Hkim 2/420 (3575) and agreed by Al-Dhahab.

Do not make my grave a place of festivity and your houses graveyards, invoke blessings upon me for your invocation and greeting will reach me, wherever you may be.16

Al-Uqil reports that Abdul-Rahmn ibn `Awf (may Allh be pleased with him) said the Prophet (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him) said,

Whoever invokes blessings upon me, Allh sends blessings upon them and whoever greets me, Allh greets them. 17

Ab Hurayrah (may Allh be pleased with him) narrates the Prophet (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him) said,

Not one of you greets me except that Allh restores my soul to me so that I may return the greeting. 18

Whatever prayer upon the Prophet (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him) you make, ask Allh (Mighty and Exalted) Al-Wasla for him. Do not be neglectful of saying this after the call to prayer, to make your intercession by the Prophet (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him) obligatory.
Imm Ahmad 2/367 (8586). Al-Hkim 1/222; agreed by Al-Dhahab. 18 Imm Ahmad 2/527 (10434), Ab Dawd 2/435 (2041) and Al-Bayhaq 5/402 (10270). Also see Imam As-Suyuti work on Life of the Prophets in their graves.

In the Musnad of Ibn Abu Shayba it is reported that Ab Hurayrah (may Allh be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him) said,

Invoke blessings upon me, truly your invocation for me, is charity for you. And ask Allh for Al-Wasila. We asked, What is al-Wasila, O Messenger
of Allh? He (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him) replied,

That is the highest degree in Heaven and no one will attain it, except one man. I hope that it will be me.19

Al-Nis reports that `Abdullh ibn `Umar (may Allh be pleased with him) heard the Messenger of Allh (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him) say,

. . . . . . When you hear the caller of prayer, say what he says and then invoke blessings upon me. For he who supplicates for me, Allh sends blessings upon him ten-fold; and then implore Allh to grant Al-Wasla to me. This is a place in Heaven that is not appropriate except for one servant of Allh, I hope that I will be him. So whoever asks this for me, my intercession is validated for him.20

Whatever supplication you make to your Lord, begin with His praise, then invoke blessings upon the Prophet (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him). Invoke blessings on the Prophet (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him) at the beginning, in the middle and at the end. Embellish your invocation upon him with

precious jewels. By doing this your invocation will be answered and the veil between you and Allh (Mighty and Majestic) will be lifted. Al-Tirmidh reports in his Musnaf that Fudalia ibn Ubayid said, We were sitting with the Prophet (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him), when a man came and prayed then supplicated. O Allh, show me mercy and forgiveness. The Prophet (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him) said,

O Dear worshipper, you have hastened. When you have prayed, sit, praise Allh as he is most worthy, invoke blessings upon me, and then supplicate.
Then another man prayed, praised Allh and sent prayers upon the Prophet (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him). The Prophet (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him) said,

O Dear worshipper, your supplication will be answered.21

Al-Hassan ibn Araft narrates that Ali ibn Ab Tlib (may Allh be pleased with him) reports that the Prophet (may Allh bestow peace and blessings upon him) said,

) ( ( ) ( ) There is no supplication except that there is a veil between it and Allh until you invoke blessings upon Muhammad (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him). When you invoke blessings upon Muhammad (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him) it pierces the veil and is then responded to. When it has no invocation upon the Prophet (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him) it is rejected.22

Al-Tirmidh reports that `Umar Ibn Khattb (may Allh be pleased with him) said, Your supplication is suspended between the Heavens and the Earth, until you invoke blessings upon your Prophet. (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him).23

Abdul-razak reports in his Musnaf24 from Jabir ibn Abdullah (may Allh be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allh (may Allh bestow peace and blessings upon him) said,

Do not treat me like a container of a rider, when the rider wants to hang it up, fill the container with water, if he a need for ablution he performs it and drinks from it but always spills it. So place me in the middle of your supplication, the beginning and the end.

Make prayers on your Prophet (may Allh bestow peace and blessings upon him) most of your acts of worship. Allh would suffice you of the concerns of the world and afterlife. Ibn Abu Shayba reports in his Musnad25 from Ubayy ibn Kaab (may Allh be pleased with him) said, A man came and said, O Messenger of Allh what if I make all of prayers invocations for you? He (may Allh bestow peace and blessings be upon him) said,

Then Allh would suffice for all concerns of the matters of the world and the afterlife.

Al-Tirmidh reports that Ubayy ibn Kab (may Allh be pleased with him) said when the last third of the night would enter, the Prophet (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him) would stand and say,

O dear people make remembrance of Allh, the first blow (of the trumpet) follows the second and then comes death.26 Ubayy asked, O Messenger of
Allh, I would like increase my supplications upon you, how much shall I make? He replied (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him),

However much you wish I said, A fourth [of my supplications]? He said,

As you wish.
I then said, A third?

As you wish, but it is better [for you] to devote more.

Half? I asked

Al-Hkim 2/421 (3587) says the chain is authentic; agreed by Al-Dhahab.

12

As you wish, but it is better [for you] to devote more.

Two thirds?

As you wish, but it is better [for you] to devote more.

Then, I shall make all my supplications for you. He (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him) said,

You will be freed from anxiety and your sins will be forgiven.27

If you invoke blessings upon your Prophet (may Allh bestow peace and blessings upon him) then ask Allh that he be given the closest rank, therefore you will attain intercession and it will be necessary for you. Al-Bazzr in his Musnad reports that Ruwaifi ibn Thbit said the Prophet (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him) said,

( ) Whoever prays upon Muhammad (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him) and then says, O Allh place him in a position near to you, on the Day of Judgement. My intercession becomes obligatory for him.28

Make your invocation of blessings upon your Prophet (may Allh bestow peace and blessings upon him) beautifully and invoke him by your limbs and tongue. As your prayer will reach him in his grave and your name shall be shown to His (may Allh bestow peace and blessings be upon him) soul.

Musnaf of Abdul-Razk 2/512 (3114). Al-Tabarn Al-Awsat.

13

Al-Bazzr reports from Ysir ibn Amir (may Allh be pleased with him) that the Prophet (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him) said,

Allh has assigned an angel to allow me to hear the sound of creation, until the Day of Judgement. Not one of you invokes blessings upon me except that I am informed of their name and their fathers name thus: This is so and so, son of so and so, who has invoked blessings upon you.

Abdul-razak reports in his Musnaf29 from Mujahid narrates that the Messenger of Allh (may Allh bestow peace and blessings upon him) said,

You are displayed to me by your names and description, so beautify your prayers upon me.

Greet your Prophet (may Allh bestow peace and blessings upon him) whenever you enter the masjid and leave it. As this is the place of the best speech. Al-Nisai reports that Ab Hurayrah (may Allh be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him) said,

When (one of you) enters the Masjid, convey greetings upon your Prophet (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him), then say, O Allh open for me the doors of your mercy. When you leave, greet your Prophet (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him), then say, O Allh protect me from the accursed Satan.

2/214 (3111).

It was reported that Ali ibn Ab Talib (may Allh be pleased with him) said that the Prophet (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him) said,

Your invocation upon me protects your supplication, pleases your Lord and is purification for your bodies.30

Persist in your prayers upon the your Prophet (may Allh bestow peace and blessings upon him) because by it your interior is purified, your exterior purified, your heart is given ease and light, you achieve the pleasure of your Lord and attain security from the calamites of the day of great fear and anxiety.

It was narrated that Anas ibn Mlik (may Allh be pleased with him) said that the Prophet (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him) said,

Truly, the one who is rescued from disastrous problems on the Day of Judgement is the one who made the most supplications upon me in the world.31

As you invoke blessings upon your Prophet (may Allh bestow peace and blessings upon him) with your tongue then it should be similar as you do with your fingers when you write his blessed name (may Allh bestow peace and blessings upon him) in a book. As this is a cause of great reward for you. It was narrated from Ab Bakr Al-Siddq (may Allh be pleased with him) that the Prophet (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him) said,

Whoever writes knowledge about me and writes salutations with it, the reward of it is not lost as long as the book exists.32

Ab Hurayrah (may Allh be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allh (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him) said,

Whoever invokes blessings upon me in a book, the angels do not cease, in their asking forgiveness for him for as long as my name is in the book.33

It is for this reason Sufyn al-Thawr (may Allh show him mercy) said, There is no benefit for a Hadith/Prophetic narration expert unless he writes salutations upon the Messenger of Allh (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him) as it supplicates for him as long as the book exists.34

Muhammad ibn Ab Sulaymn said,

Khatb Al-Baghdd 36 (65) and Al-Tabarn in Al-Awsat. Al-Tabarn, Ibn Jawzi 2/693 (1680). 34 Al-Baghdd in Sharaf Ahl Hadith 36 (66).

I saw my father in a dream. I asked him O Father, what did Allh do to you? He said, He forgave me. How? I asked. He said, I wrote salutations upon the Prophet (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him) in my book.35

Ubaydullah Al-Farzari said, We had a neighbour who was a scribe who died. He was seen in a dream and asked, What did Allh do to you? he said. He forgave me. He asked, For what? He said, When I used to mention the Messenger of Allh (may Allh bestow peace and blessings be upon him) in a narration I used to invoke peace and blessings upon him.36

Sufyan ibn Uyaynah (may Allh be pleased with him) said, It was narrated to me by one of the successors, sahib al-khalqan,37 saying, I had a friend who sought hadith with and then died. So I saw him in a dream wearing being busied with green clothes. And asked him, Was it you who used to seek hadith with me? So why are you like this? He said, I used to record hadith with you. I did not pass by the mention of Muhammad (may Allh bestow peace and blessings upon him) without writing peace and blessings of Allh be upon him. So its for this reason that you see what my Lord (Mighty and Exalted) has given me.38

`Abdullh ibn Abdul-Hakm said, I saw Imam Shafi (may Allh show him mercy) in a dream. I asked him: What did Allh do to you? He said, My Lord showed mercy and forgave

me. I was paraded into heaven and embellished with confetti like a bride. He asked, How did you achieve this? By the salutations that I made upon Muhammad (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him) in my book, The Treatise. How was it written? He said, O Allh send salutations upon Muhammad [equivalent in number to] the number of those who remember him and the number of those who are heedless of him. When I woke up and looked in the book, The Treatise, I found it was as he had said.39 So do not be heedless of making prayers upon your Prophet (may Allh bestow peace and blessings upon him). It is light of goodness passing by you, do not be the most miserly of the miserly that have the characteristics of the character of the people of emptiness, one who dies with a heart without tranquillity and those who have deviated from the path of paradise.

Al-Nis reports that `Al ibn Ab Talib (may Allh be pleased with him) said that the Prophet (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him) said,

The miserly one is the one who does not invoke blessings upon me when I am mentioned.

Also in Al-Nis, Jbir ibn `Abdullh (may Allh be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him) said,

( ) Those who sit in a gathering and then disperse without invoking blessings upon the Prophet (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him), it is as if they leave behind a rotting corpse.40

Abdul-razak reports in his Musnaf41 that Qatada narrates that the Messenger of Allh (may Allh bestow peace and blessings upon him) said,

It is from the hollowness of man who I am mentioned to and does not invoke blessings upon me.

Also reported by Muhammad ibn `Al narrates that the Messenger of Allh (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him) said,

Whoever has forgotten to invoke salutations upon me has lost the way to Heaven.42

Ibn Abu Shayba reports in his Musnad from Anas that:

Ameen. He reached the top and sat down. A companion asked, Prophet of Allh, Why did you say Ameen three times? He (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him)said, Jibril, upon him peace, came to me and said, Disaster befalls the one who knows that both or one of his parents are alive and does not enter Heaven (through serving them). I said, Ameen. Disaster befalls the one who exits Ramadan and did not attain forgiveness. I said, Ameen. Then he said, Disaster befalls the one who hears your name mentioned and does not say, Peace upon you. So I said, Ameen.43

Make your invocation upon the Prophet (may Allh bestow peace and blessings upon him) as you are ordered, as this is a great grace that you possess. Mlik reports in his Muwatta that Ab Masd Al-Ansr (may Allh be pleased with him) said that: The Prophet (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him) came into the gathering of Saad ibn Ubayd, and Bashir ibn Saad asked him, Allh has ordered us to send salutations upon you, O Messenger of Allh. So tell us how. The Prophet (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him) remained silent until we did not think he would answer. Then he (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him) said,

Say: O Allh bless Muhammad and his family as you have blessed Ibrahm and his family. Exalt Muhammad and his family as you have exalted Ibrahim and his family amongst the people of the universe. Truly, You are Praiseworthy and Majestic. Send supplications as you know.44

Also from Maliks Muwatta is the report from Ab Humaid Al-Sad who said:

Asqalani Al-Matalab Al-Aliya 3/223, Ibn Hibbn 2/140 (409), Al-Tabarn 11/67. Muslim 1/305 (405), Muwatta 103 (398)

They (the companions) asked, O Messenger of Allh, how should we invoke blessings upon you? He (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him) said,

Say: O Allh bless Muhammad, his wives and his offspring as you have blessed Ibrahim. Exalt Muhammad, his wives and his offspring as you have exalted the family of Ibrahim, truly you are Praiseworthy and Majestic.45

Al-`Uqail narrates from Ab Hurayrah (may Allh be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allh (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him) said,

Whoever says: O Allh bless Muhammad and his family as you have blessed Ibrahim and his family. Show mercy to Muhammad and his family as you have shown mercy to Ibrahim and his family. Exalt Muhammad and his family as you have exalted Ibrahim and his family, truly you are praiseworthy and exalted. Whoever testifies this, I shall intercede for them on the Day of Judgement. 46

Al-Nis reports from Zayd ibn Kharija said, the Messenger of Allh (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him) was asked and replied.

Invoke blessings upon me and endeavour in your supplication. Say: O Allh bless Muhammad and his family.47
May Allh send prayers and peace upon him as you have honoured him by the message and magnified his honour and taught him,

What you did not know and the virtue of Allh upon you is great.48

These are forty hadith about the Prophet (may Allh bestow peace and blessings upon him) that contain the forms of virtues prayers and blessings. It is gathered here in this book in hope that Allh grants us an excellent abode by the blessing of the prayers from me and from those who I heard of the people of Islam say what narrated from him (may Allh bestow peace and blessings upon him) said,

Whoever preserves upon my nation forty hadith that Allh blesses them by it. It was said, Enter into paradise into any door you wish.49
What knowledge is loftier, what means gives intercession, which action is more beneficial than to pray upon the one who Allh and all His angels invoke blessings upon. It is specific for a great closeness for him in the world and the afterlife. Prayer upon him is a great light, it is a trade that has no loss and it is the refuge of the men of Allh in the morning and the evening.

It was narrated by Abu Muhammad Abdulaziz ibn Said Al-Zadi said he heard Ismail ibn Ahmed ibn Ismail Al-Haasib was informed by Muhammad ibn Umar that he said, I was with Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn Musa ibn Mujahid when Al-Shibli50 came. So Abu Bakr ibn Mujahid stood up hugged him and kissed him on the forehead.

I saw the Messenger of Allh (may Allh bestow peace and blessings upon him) in my dream, receive Al-Shibli, stand for him and kiss him on the forehead. Then I asked, O Messenger of Allh! You do this to Al-Shibli? He replied, Yes, he recites this after his prayer,

The Messenger has come to your from yourselves, grievous is to him is your suffering,51 then follows it up by invoking blessings upon me.52

Ab Hussain Al-Sharqn said, I saw Mansr ibn Amr in a dream and I asked him: what did Allh do to you? He said, I stood before him and He asked, Are you Mansr ibn Amr? Yes, I am. Are you the one who advised the people to abstain from the world yet you desired it? I used to do that but I did not attend a gathering except I began with Your praises then invoked blessings upon Your Prophet (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him) and then advised your servants. You are right, put him on a chair in Heaven, so he can praise Me there amongst the angels as he praised Me in the earth amongst My servants.

Ahmad ibn Att al-Rawdbar said he heard Ab Qsim Abdullh Al-Marwazui say, My father and I used to study Prophetic narrations at night, a pillar of light was seen at the place we used to study in which reached the sky. It was asked, What was that light? That was salutations upon the Prophet (may Allah bestow peace and blessings upon him), righteous and noble.53
