by Gagandeep on February 6, 2012 in Restaurants

Ludhiana has a plethora of restaurants and there is a new entry in the city The Salt Box, a well known chain of Restaurants from UK has opened its outlet in Ludhiana. Robin Inderpal Singh, who completed his MBA few months back and had a vision of setting up a business, started up a new Restaurant here in Ludhiana. I heard alot about this place and visited there few days back. What I loved about this place was the ambience, politeness of the attendants and the aroma of the delicious food (that made me impatient to wait for d food ). Once you go to this place its worth coming back. There is a lot of variety in food ranging from Indian, Chinese, Continental and Tandoori !! Infact try anyone of their paneer dishes and trust me you would definitely lick your fingers. Other than restaurant they arrange for kitty parties and DJ parties and are having a separate hall for Birthday parties, get together and other functions.

Rahra Chicken The Salt Box has been working very well since its opening a year ago in 2011. The customers felt very satisfied after visiting this place. The items like Cheese Corn Rolls, Chicken Rahra and Mutton Roganjosh are awesome. The Restaurant is located next to Ishmeet Singh Chowk, Model Town Extension.

Bistro 226 A Multi Cuisine Restaurant

A new & different thing always stands out. Its not always welcomed but it is does get our attention. And if this new & different thing has some unbeatable features which actually never existed before, it surely creates its own space. This has been proved so true for BISTRO 226. Restaurants are always loved & liked because of the FEEL they offer. Bistro 226 offers you the same. As soon as you enter you will start getting waves of its scenic ambience with ample of greenery around. At First, it offers a marvelous wooden shed which is very much open to experience both, the cool-breeze as well as the feel of being in a restaurant.

Bistro 226 Flooring has its own story to share, below this partially open shed u will get the chance to rest your feet on Green Grass. It also offers a special covered dining area enough for a group of friends and a family. Here we get the feel of private dining area with absolutely no extra costs attached. Other add on comes the Generic dining area with amazing interiors. As soon as you enter ,you will experience the beauty of a totally vintage & rustic Wall on your left which adds to the silent beauty of this place. Talking about food A Multi Cuisine Restaurant With Focus on Continental & Oriental Cuisines. Here comes the last but the most noteworthy offering of Bistro 226. It is the open terrace dining facility where one can enjoy the scenic beauty of the stars in the sky, with his/her favorite drink & cuisine on tables in front of them. As its promoter Mr. Sukhkarn Singh Gill Says We have changed the way Ludhiana looks at restaurants. One can easily see the confidence of hard work in his words. This is because of his 12 years of experience in HM industry both in India & New Zealand. A must visit place in order to get exposed to something really impressive yet different.

PIZZA then it comes to continental, no food seems to have received as warm a welcome in Ludhiana as pizza. While this cheese-laced dish made its way into almost all multicuisine restaurants years ago, in recent months, a spate of eating joints dedicated to serving pizzas has opened up in city. The Pasta Bar Veneto, though it is not just a pizza place, opened in November last month. This was followed by Sams Pizza in December. The latest to join the group is Pizzavito, an outlet of the US based chain. The Pizza King, another such joint, opened in Sarabha Nagar market recently. This is despite chains like Dominos and Pizza Hut already running multiple outlets in city. Rehri-pizza a very Indianised form of the food featuring generous doses cheese and spices is already a rage with lovers of street food. Earlier, it was Chinese food that had caught the fancy of the denizens, forever in love with Punjabi cuisine for all meals. Noodles and Chinese gravies was a hot eating out option until a few years back. Its now Italian that the youth seems to want now, says Saurabh Dhall, who owns the city franchise for The Pasta Bar Veneto, a Chennai-based Italian food chain. Although the restaurant, located at Malhar Road, serves other Italian food such as lasagnas and pastas, it offers a special combo offer on pizzas where, for around Rs 200, a nine-inch pizza can be had with the choice of a drink. Seven out of 10 people only order pizzas here, he says.

Live Kitchen at Pizzavito The places are pricing their offerings competitively to cater to the growing clientele and competition. Malhar Road located Sams Pizza, for instance, serves a buffet for Rs 199, in which denizens can choose from 21 varieties of salads, two kinds of soups, two flavours in garlic breads and three varieties in pizza. Italian appeals to the youth, who

have budget constraints, says Amit Goyal, who holds the master franchise for this allvegetarian joint in the North and is soon coming up with branches in Amritsar and Jalandhar. Burgers too form part of the youngs eating out preferences But Pizza is less junk, and is increasingly becoming popular with the health-conscious youth today, adds Goyal. It is not just the budget joints, but the up-market restaurants too that are banking on this dish. Bistro 226 in Ghumar Mandi and Bistro Flamme Bois at Pakhowal Road, for instance, serve a steady flow of well-travelled patrons who crave for the more authentic versions of pizza using a superior and rare quality of cheese. But these newly opened up places must resort to savvy marketing for a connect with the youth, observes Preet Chandoke, a die-hard food lover in city. Of late, Le Pizzera that opened up in Model Town, fell to lack of publicity and marketing. Yum Factory that opened at Malhar Road too closed down despite attracting customers initially with their nice wood-fired pizza, he says.

Abstract
In recent years, a major food consumption trend in urban parts of developing countries is that more consumers are eating increasingly more meals outside of their homes. Most of the growth in away-from-home eating has been in the fast food sector. In this increasingly competitive industry, while franchising has become a popular vehicle for the fast food sector's growth and maintaining profitability in the shrinking market share, it also provides target customers with high quality and efficient service. As a result, along with the socio-economic, demographic and behavioral changes, consumer demand for eating out and purchase of fast foods have drastically changed. The findings of this study offer need-oriented types of marketing strategies in Turkey to enable fast food outlets to be more competitive.
