SeisImager/2D Refraction Analysis Software for Windows This SeisImager/2D software CD is provided to you for (1) evaluation of the

program, (2) if you have purchased, rented, or are upgrading the program, or (3) as a backup to the instrument version that you received with the purchase of a Geode, ES-3000, StrataVisor NZ or NX seismograph. If Case 1 or 2 applies, please install the program on your PC following the below instructions. If Case 3 applies, the software is already integrated with the seismograph program (please refer to the seismograph manual for use); there is no need to install it unless you want to use it on a separate PC. 1.0 Installation Instructions 1. 2. Insert the SeisImager/2D CD into your CD drive. Next, load the library files needed for your specific PC operating system as follows. a. If you are running Windows 2000 or XP, skip this step. b. If your computer is running Windows 95/98/Me, double click on the folder named lib_Win98&95 on the SeisImager/2D CD; double click on the file InstMsi.exe to install. c. If your computer is running Windows NT 4.0, double click on the folder named lib_WinNT4 on the SeisImager/2D CD; double click on the file InstMsi.exe to install. Restart your computer. Once your computer has rebooted, double click on the file named SeisImager_e_wt.msi on the SeisImager/2D CD to install/uninstall the program. The Welcome to the SeisImager_e Setup Wizard window will appear as follows. a. If you are presented with the option to Repair SeisImager_e or Remove SeisImager_e, the installer has detected an older version. Select Remove SeisImager_e and click on Finish, then Close after the uninstall is complete. Double click again on the file SeisImager_e_wt.msi to install the new version as described in Step 4b. b. If an old version is not detected, you will be presented with the installer. Click on Next, indicate the directory for installation (we suggest you use the default directory), click on Next, Next, and Close. Next, you may copy the SeisImager/2D Manual to your hard drive. It will require about 95 Mb. If you want to save hard drive space, you can also use the manual directly from the CD. If you decide to copy the manual to your hard drive, follow these steps. a. Select the folder SeisImager_Manual on the CD and copy to your hard drive in the location you choose. Note that the folder contains avi video clips that must reside in the same location as the file SeisImager_Manual_v1.0.pdf and SeisImager_Examples_v1.0.pdf. b. You will need Adobes freeware program Acrobat Reader to view the manual files. If you need this program, the installer for version 4.05 is included on the SeisImager/2D CD and the latest version is always available at www.adobe.com. To install version 4.05, double click on the file called ar405eng.exe on the CD to launch the InstallShield Wizard and follow the prompts.

2.0 Getting Started 1. 2. On your desktop you will see program icons for Pickwin95 and Plotrefa. Pickwin95 is the program to pick and save your first breaks. Plotrefa is the program to read the Pickwin95 file into to analyze and interpret your first break picks. Upon launch of each programs, if you are installing for the first time, a prompt will ask you to choose English or Japanese, choose English. Next, a prompt will present a keyword and ask you for a purchase or rental registration password. Please contact us with the keyword and we will provide you with a password. If you are using the software for demonstration purposes and do not need a password, select OK, and again OK. The programs will continue launching as demonstration versions for a total of 15 launches. If you are upgrading, a prompt will ask you to choose English or Japanese, choose English. Please refer to the SeisImager Manual on how to start your data analysis.
