June 24-August 16 at The Shipley School 8 One-Week Sessions Ages 4-5: Half Day (morning only) Ages 6-13: Half Day (am or pm) or Full Day

One form per child. Copy form or call to register multiple campers. Get ready for a legendary summer filled with drawing, painting, fiber arts, printmaking, ceramics, jewelry, and lots of fun while we explore myths and legends from around the world! Myths and legends are stories that cultures have created over time to explain why the world is the way it is. Throughout history, artists have been inspired by myths and legends and have brought them to life in visual form. These visual interpretations add to our understanding and appreciation of world cultures, and sometimes are all that remains. Each session, campers work with professional Teaching Artists to explore a new theme and create unique masterpieces that incorporate fine arts and craft techniques from around the world. Projects are designed to emphasize creative expression while teaching the fundamentals of art. Camp is broken down into age groups with low student to teacher ratios so that each young artist is challenged with age-appropriate techniques and materials. Fridays are a celebration at Art Camp! Each Friday we welcome a new Visiting Artist and then conclude the day with an exhibition of our masterpieces for family and friends. Young artists leave with their arms full of awesome art projects, a slew of new friends and skills in collaboration, critical thinking, problem solving, and self-expression. Camp Location Art Camp will take place at The Shipley School (814 Yarrow Street in Bryn Mawr) this summer as Main Line Art Center embarks on an exciting renovation project. We cant wait to show off our newly renovated facility in the fall! For more information about a typical day at Art Camp, bios for our Teaching Artists and answers to frequently asked questions, visit our website or contact mlac.camp@gmail.com. Back by popular demand, young artists ages 11-13 select a morning and afternoon intensive to make up a full day (or 1 for a half day) where they will have more time to focus on a single medium and hone their skills while working closely with a professional Teaching Artist. Each session features new projects so young artists can continue their artistic studies. Regular full day camp rates apply when registering for both a morning and afternoon Pre-Teen Studios, which includes lunch care. Half-day campers should register for lunch care in advance, if needed. Drawing & Painting (DP) Artists explore the fundamentals of drawing and painting through a variety of 2-D media and refine perspective skills as they move from black and white to color. Jewelry & Metalwork (JM) Campers master the basics sawing, filing, forming and polishing to manipulate metal and other 3-D media into sculptural and wearable works of art. Ceramics & Sculpture (CR) Artists build a strong foundation in handbuilt pottery and sculpture, as they learn how to bring 2-D designs to life in 3-D. Digital Photography (PH) Campers learn to tell a story through visual images as they are introduced to the fundamentals of digital photography. Fiber Arts (FB) Young artists experiment with thread, yarn, basketry, and other materials as they weave, dye, coil, and sew to explore the wonderful world of fibers.
